Good for begining fly tying
The kit is fairly complete with everything you would need to begin tis hobby. I liked the selection of material but I do not like using the CD Prefer paper

* The vice will hold a hook. * The materials will probably let you tie a few dozen potentially useful flies whereever you live and fish. * The instructions will give you a basic idea how to do some of the fundamental fly-tying tasks. * If you're careful not to destroy too much of the packaging, you can give this to someone, lightly used, as a gift, a few weeks later, when you've "outgrown" it. Walk into any real fly shop and tell them you think you want to learn how to tie your own flies. Before they even show you any "real" equipment or supplies, they'll probably say "don't bother buying one of those kits... they're worthless!" I would partially agree with them, but ONLY IF you KNOW you're interested in tying flies. If you're not sure, a kit like this might be a good way to check it out with minimal investment. If you really think you're committed to the pursuit of tying your own flies, this kit really is a waste of money. Go ahead and talk to someone in your area who knows what flies are popular and effective, buy good quality, long-lasting tools that are enjoyable to use, and spend your money stocking your supply box with the materials and color choices you'll actually use to make those local-favorite flies.
