Great item BUT...
My wife and I purchased 2 bike lifts to reclaim some usable space in our garage. They went up without a hitch, but I will say that I purchased better rope after reading other reviews and I'm glad I did. The rope supplied is very cheap and I would not trust it to hang two beach cruisers over my wife's new car. Other than that we love them. They work just fine, and my wife can get the bikes up and down without a problem.

Great Product
Easy to install and to use. The bike hooks easily and without problems, then its a simple pull of the rope to lift the bike up in the air.

Great Rack, easy to install
One thing to note: Don't place too close to wall or you may be unable to unlatch the locking mechanism in the pully system

Awesome lift
This lift works like a dream. Very easy to install with just a few screws into the rafters and run the rope through and you are ready to go. I can get my bike up and down with no problem.

Works well
I had purchased this several years ago and finally got around to installing it last weekend. It does a great job of getting my road bike out of the way while still leaving it easily accessible. I screwed this onto a 2x6 plank then attached the plank to the ceiling joists to simplify the installation. The pulleys and locking system is secure enough that I am not concerned even though my bike is suspended over two very expensive BMW cars! The only slight negative is that you do need to deal with the extra rope when the bike is pulled up to the ceiling. The included cleat is OK for this, but something a bit more clever would be a plus.

Exactly what we needed
When my kids started moving-up to bigger bikes, my wife & I decided to get bikes as well. The problem is our garage ain't the biggest to allow the bikes to remain on the garage floor. Would look like everyone else who had their cars outside the garage, getting damage from the sun & weather. We have a fairly tall ceiling in the garage but wanted to find a reasonable storage solution. I almost did a DIY with rope-n-pulley until my wife Googled bike storage solutions. Low-n-behold, this product came along. I started with 2 hangers, to make sure it was strong enough to hold our (new) hybrid bikes yet easy to install. The toughest part is the one-time installation. Make sure to install this into studs in the ceiling! I like to make sure whatever I build stays like a rock. For the hangers, I got some lag-bolts, found the studs in the ceiling, measured, drilled, and installed. Needless to say, I went back to Dicks and got 2-more for the kids. I used the stock bolts that came with the kits. Now, my wife & 8-yr olds can lower & raise the bikes by themselves. Easy to use and an absolute space-saver. We get odd looks from passer-bys who peek-in the garage and see the bikes hanging from the ceiling. But, then they say, "Wow, thats a great idea". I HIGHLY recommend this bike storage system. So much so that we're looking to use it to hang our hitch-mounted cargo carrier.
