Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 108 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Kayak for a beginner This is my first kayak and I love it! I haven't had problems with tracking or anything but I am still learning so we will see. The price was great. One thing I would want different is a larger dry storage area. Other than that, LOVE it!!! July 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by No Regrets! Just Do It! Absolutely worth it. Just took out both Future Beach Spirit 120 SOT kayaks. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with kayaks, these are awesome. We have been kayaking several times, but I wouldn't say we are experienced as we not well versed in the intricacies of kayaking. Went with the general concensus of reviews and purched two. I am a big athletic girl (5'8" 195lbs) and it provided a smooth comfortable ride on a less than calm Lake Erie. It is surprisingly quick for being so big and heavy (and having this "big boned" girl in it too. I didn't use the backrest that came with the kayak. I preferred the molded back of the kayak itself and was able to extend my legs completely straight if I wanted. No leaks anywhere so far. The dry storage stayed dry, but I bagged cell and car keys just in case. I am not the most graceful girl, but was able to get in and out without any problems. I would recommend paddling close to shore and practicing before taking them totally out in the water. This gives you a chance to get use to your weight distribution on the kayak and to check for leakage. Packed these puppies up in the back of my small SUV (put the back seats down and left the tailgate up) using ratchet ties to secure them to seat lock brackets. The tips of the kayaks rested slightly between the front seats on the console. They traveled like this driving home from the store on the highway for a 2 1/2hrs at 65mph. These are very well made solid kayaks that seem as though they can survive a beating. I will write an update later in the fall after the season is over. July 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect kayak for me This was my first kayak purchase and I am really enjoying it. I am a novice and using the kayak in the chesapeak July 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for Amateur Kayakers Couldn't be happier with this kayak! Took it into the Gulf of Mexico over the holiday and it handled great! I'm a 5'7 female and I was also able to lift it by myself. Helps when you're stuck loading alone! July 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Boat With A Couple Of Caveats Overall I am very pleased with this boat for the money. There are 2 areas that are in need of improvement though. The main gripe I have is with the side handles as they are not located at the balance point and if you lift the kayak by them the nose will droop. Also after only a few carries the side handle seems to be not very durable. I will probably remove them and add handles at the balance point. The other complaint is the miniscule storage bin that will maybe carry your wallet and a box of Tic Tacs. Put them both in a ziploc bag if you want them to stay dry as the rubber lid does not clamp down tightly enough to prevent water getting in. I solved this problem with an aftermarket 5" deck hatch and storage bag kit. Now there is plenty of watertight storage with a double seal as the rubber lid fits over the screw on lid. Those two grievances aside, the boat tracks well, is very stable, and the seating position is very comfortable. This is a great beginner/intermediate kayak that will more than meet your expectations at this price point. July 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by spirit 120 Good boat. mine has a hole in it some where and I am unable to find. going back to Dick's for answer. if you weigh over 200 lbs don't get this boat. long and slender is great for less than 200 lbs. person. I am over 200 lbs. carried this out on first mountain stream trip of over six miles and was not too impressed with it. slender design not for mountain streams. when you hit rocks submerged the boat will flip. I find that for my use, I need wider boat and will discuss that issue with Dick's. all I can say is buyer beware. the foot rests on this boat is better than some I have been in because they are a little bit more wider and that was one of the selling points for me. would I recommend this boat? the answer is yes to 200 lbs less person. no to the over 200 lbs person. the boat tracks fairly good, but the stability is not as good. Rated 5 out of 5 by New to kayaking but works great I bought this kayak thinking i wanted one that you sit in. I have never even been on a kayak, but after reading the reviews i went with this one and im so glad i did. It goes staright, easy to use, easy to get in and out of, easy to paddle, and is comfortable. I dont know anything about kayaking, but i weigh 175 at 5-9 at this is much better than i expected. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great buy! Bought the future beach 120 after it finally went on sale at Dicks. Read all the reviews and felt it was a good choice. Took it out for the first time today and it performed great! Got going pretty quickly with little effort, good in the wind, and very stable. Well worth the price! (Used it for fishing) May 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great, stable kayak Purchased May 2013 on sale for a great price after 1st trip with a friend's tandem. Love this boat! Fits in my Hyundai Sonata sedan with 1 seat down, does hang out but red flag takes care of that. Able to load and unload myself but of course, easier with a partner on each end. Limited storage, don't take anything with me except cell phone, license & credit card which do fit in a double zip lock sandwich bag in the rear well. Use a rope with a closed D ring onto the web carry handle to secure paddle. Quite stable and not too bad getting in and out for a non-athletic grandma. February 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dandy Kayak I have had mine over a year. Just perfect for what I need. Fits great in the trunk of my car with back seats folded down. Moderately lightweight to handle alone. Rides and steers great. My balance is sucky, but have not spilled over yet. Someone gave me gas filled inflatable vest. More afraid of them inflating than tipping over. I got mine on sale. But even at regular price, great recreational kayak. December 1, 2013
