Rated 5 out of 5 by jm1fish05 Great bag for price I bought this bag for a move from Indiana to Southern California. We strapped it to the top of a Rav4. It held up great. The first day of the trip we drove through driving rain for almost 2 straight hours. I checked the bag after the rain storm and felt some moisture on the inside of the material, but found no standing water visible. The next 2 days the bag was subjected to high speeds in the 80mph's along with high winds in the mountains and deserts. Upon arriving in California we found the bag to be in great condition on the outside. Once I opened the bag up and removed the contents I did find a small puddle of water in the back of the bag. When I poured the water out, I would estimate that it was about "1 cup" of water. After all the rain the first night and the distance I was not at all surprised. Hence why I gave it a 5 rating. One of the preventative measures I took when loading the bag was I put all the items into heavy duty garbage bag based on a recommendation from another review. So even though I did find water in the bag, all the contents were drive and safe. So in summary: - more than sufficient straps - very durable - holds a lot of contents - very little wind noise - very little effect on driving response of SUV - very water resistant (not water proof) October 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by thunderbolt Good Value We bought this the day before our trip because our old one was stolen. We didn?t have a lot of time to shop and it was only $40 versus over $100 for our old one. Also 15 cubic feet is pretty big for a hard or soft car top carrier. We have 2 kids and 2 great danes so space it a premium inside our Excursion. We were only driving for an hour and there was only a chance of scattered showers so we did not take any precautions like put our luggage in garbage bags or duct tape the zipper. The inside of the carrier is lined with some kind of plastic and the zipper is covered by a large flap. We put our clothes, sleeping bags and pillows in the carrier. Of course we got hit with a severe storm with high winds and driving rain. The rain was so bad that streets were flooded in minutes and some cars pulled off the road and parked. When we unpacked at our camp site I was pleasantly surprised that there were only a few wet spots on some of our bags. It is weather resistant not water proof so I will use plastic bags next time. We are buying a second one for our next trip. For me the only negative is that the buckles for straps are light duty and I would not trust them on a longer trip. I bought ratchet straps that I plan to use next time. September 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by FX4 Good Product I purchased this carrier for a family trip to Florida. I put it in the bed of my F-150. We had a couple of downpours there and back and it kept everything dry. I wish it was bigger but it was also designed to go on the roof of a car so really have no complaints. It fit two large suitcases and had room in fron for two kid sized suitcases. I used the straps to connect to the bed tie downs. I purchased 'D" rings from wallmart and attached them to the bed tie downs, then ran the straps through the rings. Didn't move at all. I even ran it through a car wash to make sure, no problem. August 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Campingdad Good product for the price Was hesitant to get a "bag" for a rooftop carrier but I don't have several hundred dollars for a hard shell. I fit a good amount of stuff in it. Was in a decent rain and stuff didnt get soaked soaked. I'll definitely continue to use it. August 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Cross Country Very Disappointed! I purchased this cargo bag to use on two trips. First from GA to FL and back. I noticed the bag starting to shred a little when we returned from our first trip. The bag was then going to be used on a trip from GA to CA. On day two of the trip my kids had to stop and purchase garbage bags to put the luggage in and then place inside the bag. This Cargo Carrier is NOT WATERPROOF as stated on the box. By day four, they had to stop and purchase additional straps to hold down the carrier. By the time they arrived in CA the bag was torn all to pieces. If you are going to purchase this item for a one time trip, it MIGHT work. If you are planning a long road trip, I would defintely purchase something more durable. ALSO the company that is listed on the box will not anwer emails or return phone calls. August 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Dadof2 Initial Observations We bought this to transport a double stroller which takes up all of the cargo room in either of our cars. We leave on our first trip today with it. Here are my initial observations from the comments and the INSTRUCTIONS. Read the instructions, because it is easy to make an incorrect assumption. 1. Waterproof - The box does say it is waterproof. The instructions say that it is not waterproof and to wrap your contents in plastic if you expect rain. If you are reading these comments and still expect it to be waterproof, I can't help you. 2. Straps - Out of the box, the straps (at least on mine) were not thredded properly through the clips. They are typical clips, and you will notice pretty quickly how they should be thredded. I un-thredded all 8 clips and re-thredded them properly, and now the straps are much stronger in place. This was a pain in the hands, because the slots in the clips are very snug around the tips of the straps. But it is necessary if you want a firm hold. 3. Positioning - The instructions say to make sure the side with no zipper is facing forward. The zipper wraps around 3 sides of the bag. If you follow the instructions, the bag will NOT look like the picture on the box. With the non-zipper side facing forward, the logos are on the sides of the bag, not the front. 4. Price - Can't beat the price. We'll see how it holds up on a trip, but the materials seem sturdy, once you properly secure the straps. August 2, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by ksmithlee WET CLOTHES :( Hello I was very happy yo find this cargo bag after looking around at several other stores. The price made me even happier, but I guess you get what you pay for!!! The boxs stated that this cargo bags was weather resisted. I should have confirmed what type of weather it was resisted to. Because my family found out the hard way, it DOES NOT RESISTED rain. When we arrived to our family vacation last Wednesday most of our clothes were wet from the RAIN... I will be returning the bag for something alot stronger in the weather resisted area. July 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by FamilyofFour Performed better than expected For the money, I expected to get a flimsy bag, but we found this bag to be sturdy and just right for our needs. The downside: we had to buy expensive cross rails for our vehicle. We have side rails, but we ended up paying about $250 for the cross rails (after shopping around, this was the best deal). We considered purchasing a hard-top container, but for the extra expense, it just wasn't worth it. Every summer, we travel from Nebraska to the Ozarks once or twice and stay in a vacation home on the lake. When you bring everything with you, from bed linens and towels to life jackets and food, even a larger SUV gets crowded! I put my kids' clothing, towels, bedding and pillows in Space Bags and extra large Ziploc tote bags before sliding each package into the carrier. And there was extra space! Although we did not hit any rain this summer, I was happy to see the bag in practically perfect condition when we got it back home. I feel a little silly paying five times more than the cost of the bag for the annoying rails, but they are necessary. July 8, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sneeje Acceptable for the price So, comparing this product to the Yakima canvas bag ($99) and the various hard-shell cargo containers ($250+), it is a good value if you are willing to accept convenience trade-offs. First, you must pack it before you put it on top of the vehicle because of the way it straps, which may or may not be feasible given the weight of the items. Second, the straps are all adjustable, but not in the most convenient way. I have no place to store a hard-shell cargo container, nor can I keep it on my vehicle, so I have no choice but to buy/use a canvas container. I've used it twice and it is a bit of a pain to use, but mostly an acceptable alternative to having all the additional stuff in my minivan. If convenience is a top priority as well as having a locking container, buy a hard-shell. If you're willing to deal with less convenience, I'd consider this or perhaps another canvas offering. It was $40 versus the Yakima ($99) so even if that was slightly better I'm happy with the price. July 2, 2013
