I have had mine for four years and it looks brand new. I am 5'9" and have the long one. I was looking on line to buy one for someone as a gift, and was reading the reviews and felt compelled to chime in. I bought $20 mat after mat, and finally broke down and spent the big bucks, but did I say four years ago? I would likely have had 8 $20 mats in that time. Yes, slippery at first, scrub it off, the sea salt is a good idea, or I used a stiff natural bristle scrub brush and water, which is how I wash my mat every so often and air dry it. It is heavy, I tried a sling at first, the bag Manduka makes is a nice one, that's three years old. I throw the bag in the washer (take the strap off) and air dry it. My mat looks brand new, there is not a scratch on it with four years of ~3x/wk use. I have the dark purple bag, so it has faded a little bit, but the zippers are still fine and the stitching is all fine. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Annie10 Love this Yoga Mat
I have purchased several cheaper yoga mats only to be disappointed with the quality and length of time it lasts. A big thing for me is the comfort level especially as it relates to my knees and seriously love it! It also stays in place as no others have done for me.
If you are at all hesitant to spend this much on a mat, believe me - you won't be sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kad78 Slippery at first
Slippery at first. Use a degreaser to get protective top layer off. Firm, stays in place and offers good support for all poses. Purchase with a carrier...it's heavy, but not TOO heavy to tote to class. Overall, very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by yogalady Best mat I've ever owned!
I am a serious yogi and this mat is perfect! There is plenty of cushion, even on hardwood floors, and I don't slide at all! I definitely recommend it. Will probably be the last mat I ever buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ibizanhound06 Best Yoga Mat Ever
I've gone through several different yoga mats in my search for "the perfect" mat. I've done research online, I've tried different mats, I've worn various mats out, but the Manduka Black Mat Pro is far and away the best. It doesn't stretch, it doesn't bubble, it doesn't move around. This mat may very well be the last mat I ever need to buy (and if I do need another at some point, I'll be buying the Manduka again). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars (and really, if I could've given it 4 1/2, I would have) is because it is slippery at first. That is true of most (all?) mats, so it isn't just a Manduka thing. It does wear off as you break the mat in, but it can make certain asanas (warrior, for example) interesting. I've heard that make a sea salt scrub and using that helps reduce the slipperiness in the beginning, but just using it regularly does, too. For the scrub, just slather the sea salt on, scrub it around a bit and rinse off and air dry mat. One last caveat, this is not a light mat. It weighs 7 lbs so if you're going to be lugging it all over with you, you might want to consider a lighter weight Manduka mat. While this mat is more expensive than others, it is also much more durable and much better. It's less expensive in the long term because you won't be needing to purchase new mats all the time. Best. mat. ever.
