Customer Reviews:

Rated 1 out of 5 by Shimano Sedona FD Spinning Reel Bail Sticks I just purchased two new Shimano Sedona 1000 FD Spinning Reels and had new line put on at the store--one to replace an old reel and the other for a new rod. After I had purchased the reels a salesperson at a different store mentioned this Shimano Reel had a problem with the bail sticking. When I got to the lake to fish, the bail was sticking so bad on one of the new Shimano reels that I needed both hands to close it. The second new real was a little better but still would also stick. I was borrowing an older Shimano Sedona 100 FD Spinning Reel and rod from a friend and I was really surprised the drag was grainy and not smooth. The old reel I was going to replace performed better than both the new Shimano Sedona reels. I was initially tempted to get an other brand with more bearings and good reviews but chose this brand because of its popularity. I am very disappointed and would definitely not recommend this product. If you decide to buy it before your trip test it out first and possibly bring some lubricant. Its very frustrating when the fish are bighting like crazy and your bail won't close--especially with a brand new reel that isn't cheap. May 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb Service and Value I went to Dick's in Santa Clarita,Ca.I was looking at $150 to $200 fishing reels.Noa Cook a manager there helped me. I told him what I needed. He told me that I didn't need to spend a great deal of money to get quality equipment. He recommened the Sedona FD.This reel was less than half the price of what I was looking at,and would perform the same as the more expensive reels.I also bought another reel for salmon fishing that he recommened. Mr. Cooks knowelege and the service given was honest and of great value to me as a customer. He could have taken advantage of my inexperience and sold me very expensive equipment, but he didn't and got me what he thought would be best for my situation and saved be alot of money.I would definitly go back to that store for any sporting good I might need in the future. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Reels I own about 6 fishing rods and 3 of them run Shimano Sedona Reels. I have the 500FD on two Ultra Lites and i have the bigger version on my Medium action. for the price ur getting a great reel with smooth drag, great retrieve... the bail on my one 500FD is starting to stick but thats just a maintenance thing on my end. Take care of these reels and they wont let you down! April 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good reel for the price On first day out with this reel, caught a 3 lb large mouth bass. Reel held up well under pressure of bass pulling on drag. The following day caught an 18" wide body saugeye, again the drag held as this fish was pulling out line from this light reel on a 5 ft St Croix ultra light rod. The last time I used the reel on the third outing, I noticed the spool was somewhat loose and I needed to tighten the nut holding the spool. Other than this adjustment, I am please with the reel April 16, 2013
