Rated 4 out of 5 by Another fantastic SOG product I've had the Trident Tanto for over a year now and I absolutely love it. This blade has been through it all and it still has a decent edge. I go hiking in the woods several times a week and I always have two SOGs in my pocket: this and the flash II. The aus8 steel is shaving-sharp out of the box and holds its edge for months and months. The only problem I have with the blade is finding a sharpener that's able to take on such a tough steel. The glass-reinforced nylon handle is much more durable than you would think and the black tini coating is extremely rust and scratch resistant. The assisted opening is awesome and convenient to use. One of my must-haves when knife shopping is the ability to easily open and close with one hand; the trident's arc-actuator lock provides just that. The tanto point is wicked strong and great for precise cutting. The 3.75" blade is perfect for any challenge you throw at it; I even chopped down a small tree with it on my latest excursion. If you need a rugged, low-profile tactical knife, the SOG Trident Tanto is the knife for you. September 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Knife for the money I did a lot of research on many types of pocket knifes and many types of steels used in a blade. This one uses Japanese made AUS 8 steel, which is mid grade but very sharp and tough. Handle feels good and is surprisently light for it's tough exterior look. Handle also includes seat belt cutter which makes this knife popular with law enforsment. However, this feature can be used to cut wires and other thin items. Assisted opening system is smooth and simple, I like that there are two locking mechanisms, it feels safer in you pocket, but you can keep the second one unlocked when using the knife often. Can not find a better knife for this price, and Dick's sells it for lowest price...I've looked around. Good Luck April 29, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic knife I love this knife I carry it with me everywhere I go it has a very sharp blade right out of the box and it keeps it's edge I have yet to sharpen it. I love it's ability to cut paracord and fishing line without having to open the blade and has a great grip and won't slip out of your hand when using it June 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best knife yet!!! I have owned many a knife and this is by far the best one I have gotten. The price could be higher and i'd still buy it. June 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Some answers for this great knife Actually, as far as the safety is concerned, it can be clicked off with a fingernail with a little practice as part of the opening procedure. The clip serves as a guide to find finger position and the midldle finger just follows the groove to open the blade almost as quick as opening the blade with safety already off. Closing the blade is also a one-handed operation with a little practice, either rt or lft-handed. SOG never tells you how to switch the clip to the other side, just says it's "easy". But it only ivolves usind an allen wrench on one screw to switch it over for lefties. July 22, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfection SOG Has nailed it with this one. The quality is impeccable and the fit and finish reflect that. It is well balanced and lightning fast to open. The G10 grip is well thought out and the machined SOG logo in the clip is a subtle way to show it off. This is my new favorite daily carrier thanks to the blade opening safety for pocket carrying. I use a Maxpedition sheath most days and this knife replaces my Ferox. May 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice carry blade Picked this up a couple weeks ago, very nice heavy blade, well sharpened out of the box, seems to be holding edge fairly well. My first "open assist" folder...It is slick! Takes less than a couple ounces of thumb pressure to get it moving. Highly recommend for a daily carry or utility knife. February 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Good This is a very nice knife, it has a good grip to it, and a very sharp blade. It's fast action tech is awsome the knife opens very fast, just make sure you put the lock on. July 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best folder I've ever owned I love this knife so much I'm buying a second one. I've owned dozens of folders, and this is the best. I love the light weight. The clip is strong enough that the knife stays in your pocket. I forget it's there until I need it. It was literally sharp enough to shave with straight out of the package. And be careful; the point is wicked; don't lose your grip while using it. The handle is large and feels solid despite the light weight. The assisted opening is lightning quick. Only 2 cons: 1) There is a very slight wiggle side to side. Not a problem. 2) Occasionally the lock will engage while in my pocket. Could be a problem if I ever had to use it in a split second self defense situation. But if you're aware of your surroundings, you usually have time to draw. A spot of epoxy adhesive could fix it into the unlocked position and solve that. I think the lock was a liability addition insisted upon by SOG's attorneys. I've never had it accidentally open in my pocket, and I never lock it. If you like heavy knives that are dull out of the box, don't hold an edge, and that you're constantly fishing our of your truck seats of couch cushions, buy another knife. Funny thing is that I wouldn't pay much more for a knife...but I'll definitely buy two of this one. March 10, 2012
