Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 48 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice for the price !! I have other models of Midland radios and have had NO problems. These radios seem to have the ability to reach out and receive at greater distance. The sound is clear and the screen is very easy to see. I do alot of hunting in wet weather so hopefully these will be ok (they are supposed to be water proof). The BIG plus's are the ability to use both types of batteries if your outdoors. 3 Year Warranty, Weather channels, And the price if you catch them on sale with a rebate. I hope they last as long as my older ones, If they do i'll be happy. If your looking for a good radio try'em. Also get a soft case to carry it in that will clip to your belt or vest. You can buy the cases at hardware stores. It will help protect your radio. November 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Took on recent hunting trips Bought these radios in November 2011. Took out on 2 seperate huting trips here in NY. Dropped my radio once, worked fine. All of these radios work in line of sight, remember that. They will not go over mountains etc. some hilly areas yes, they will work. Remember to read the instructions before heading out. I like to pick one channel and hold the lock button so it does not change or the ptt button engages while in my pocket. All in all, good set of radios. You'll like em' (Get the rebate) then they are like $59. December 9, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good Talkies But BEWARE! These are a lot to learn to be able to use them for all their capabilities, THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THOUGH IS GETTING THE FCC LICENSE. WITHOUT THE LICENSE YOU DON'T GET THE RANGE AS YOU MUST HAVE IT TO USE THE FREQUENCIES THAT GIVE YOU THE RANGE. OR ELSE THEY ARE LIMITED OR ILLEAGLE. CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. READ THE MANUAL! Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Units!...Not what we had as Kids in the '70's Work great. Nice and clear,Good range in the hilly, tree filled area I use them. They seem to work for about a mile or a bit more (thru the woods/hills) in that terrain. Which is fair, there are LOTS of tall pines and small valleys. They work quite well in flatter, less treed areas, as expected. While on the road with a friend we were able to communicate between the 2 cars for about a mile, more if windows were down. I had NO PROBS with the batteries as some here have said...but I read the directions and did as they say, an initial 1 time/First time long charge (24 hrs). They recommend 12 hr charges after that, but, After research of Lithium Batteries on 'BATTERY UNIVERSITY" online, I followed their instructions, which have always served me well . Do Not Let these battery/radios get hot while charging, warm is ok/normal, But,a HOT Battery will Burn out quickly and Never recover fully from the 'Heat Trauma"... If I use them all day,and the batteries are worn down a lot, I charge for about 6 to 8 hrs and that has always been more than enough. Do Not leave these radios in the charger 24/7...It'll kill the batteries quick!, and I suspect most of the problems people report about battery life are due to this. My last set, which I had for 5 yrs NEVER had any battery issues, but, they went to the bottom of the lake in my backpack, which is why I bought these. (could not retrieve) Use common sense and these will do what you need, They have a decent range, are good quality, can get rained on, but NOT Submerged, are tough, (they fell off my 4 wheeler into mud and survived), dropped/bounced down at least 20 stairs to cement below and they work fine, although scratched up. Buy these, you will be happy. November 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Radio Review We use this product when we are camping or at our cabin, and we are very pleased with its performance. It was easy to set-up and we were able to use it without reading massive amounts of directions. It has convenient features such as the earbuds so that we can be more hands-free when necessary. I also like that we can charge it when we have the ability or can use batteries when necessary such as power outages or dry camping. I am very pleased with this purchase and it has been well worth the price. September 11, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth the price! Excellent Product so far. Used it 2 days after it arrived which provided time to read the operators manual and charge the batteries. Worked great in mountainous terrain. Operators Manual is fairly well done, although it could have been printed in a larger size and typface for us "older" folks whose eyes are not as good as they once were. Voice clarity has been good to excellent thus far. All in all - well worth the price! December 13, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best I've owned! I use this with the family when camping and fishing. They are the clearest radios with the longest ranges I have ever owned. The only issue I have is the case which feels brittle to me which makes me worry about durability in the field. Otherwise awesome! October 16, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Surprising good buy for an inexpensive radio. Can communicate with buddies hunting nearby. There are line of sight limitation but instruction say limitations up front. Instructions are complex but well written. September 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very nice set. To start off they are a really good set, good battery life and distance. They have a bunch of channels and other cool options, my only gripe is that they can pick up other radio transmistions that are in range like from truckers and whatnot. I solved it by just using the higher channels. the ear pieces that come with this set don't fit into my ear and I had a little trouble getting them to work. But all that was minnor stuff and easily fixed. January 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Product Radios are easy to use, but there are a lot of options I'll never use . Basically bought them because of the 36 mile range ( under perfect conditions and terrain ). I like the weather alert function and the weather channel comes in very clear. I also like the hands free setup, but the ear piece is a little awkward to fit in the ear. The whisper mode is nice also. December 13, 2013
