Super Product and Super Support
I purchased the SE8.0e on May 20th at Dicks in Oxford, AL. During installation I noticed that two plastic covers were cracked. During operation, one LCD crystal on the timer did not work. I called tech support at 7:00 am the next morning and spoke with Sarah. I explained the broken parts and all I can say is WOW! Since the product wasn't in the registration system yet, she took all the information and asked for a faxed or emailed copy of the receipt. Within 30 minutes the parts were scheduled to go out on UPS for delivery in 3-4 days. Sarah was very courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful; my sincere thanks to Sarah and Johnson. I look forward to the burn.

We are thrilled with the 8.0 E Elliptical
We purchased the Livestrong 8.0E Elliptical in early January 2013. It took about 1 1/2 hours to assemble and the directions were quite good. After a couple of weeks we began to experience the same "knocking" noise that others have commented. I isolated the sound to be coming from the actual pivot "sleeve/joints". The problem with this unit is that it is shipped with a very thin cheap grease coating on each "sleeve/joint" that breaks down after a short amount of use, thus creating the knocking sound. I had to disassemble the unit again, but i removed the cheap grease and replaced it with a heavy duty waterproof lithium grease. The 8.0E has been quiet ever since - used by 4 people per day! I hope this helps others.

Great!! (When it works)
We bought the elliptical last year right after Christmas... We got an amazing deal on it and were originally thrilled!! While unpacking it we found that one of the foot petals was broken, which wasn't a huge deal. I called and they replaced it immediately. About two months later it started making a thumping noise on the right side. After reporting it, a technician came out and couldn't figure out what was wrong. She thought that one of the main pieces looked crooked but they sent other parts which she replaced and it temporarily fixed the noise. Three months after that the same noises started again, but adding a jerking/rattling feeling. Again after reporting it another technician came and placed more parts. This time it took about six to seven months before it started again, but on the other side. We were in our one year warranty at the time so we filed another report and are currently waiting on the parts. The elliptical is in a temperature controlled room and is only used once every day for 30-40 minutes. I feel that it is ridiculous that we have had to have it serviced three times in one year. I do love how it works... When it does work properly. I think something is wrong with the main base, but no one seems to want to replace a major part... Only minor ones. I hope that anyone who does purchase this elliptical receives on that works properly all the time.

Love it when it works, but it doesn't
The Pros: The design of the footbeds and stride is ergonomic and I have no joint pain when using it. The levels have sufficient range for absolute beginners to pretty fit people to get a good, safe workout. When working it was very quite (must have a gym mat). The cons: There are constantly major things wrong with it (3 service calls in 5 months) and I had it professionally delivered and installed. I am 110 lbs and the only person who uses it. It has now been out of use 10% of the time I have had it. The bolts/bearings on the pivot arm were broken, the flywheel belt and now the flywheel itself. Customer service is disorganized and slow to respond. They have many subcontractors all over who do the fixing and the level of compentency is very variable (2 out of 3 very poor). I would never buy this again nor would I recommend it.

WARNING: ASK for an extended warranty
Great machine, BUT if you buy it, you MUST ASK for the extended warranty at Dick's at the time of sale. I've had to make 2 major warranty claims in less than 6 months. When I purchased the machine, Dick's sold me on the wonderful Livestrong warranty and how they come to your house to repair, however they never mentioned or tried to sell me on an extended warranty. My fault for not asking, assuming that (like most products I buy) someone would tried to sell me a warranty at or near when the current expires. Now I am concerned after 2 major repairs that I will be stuck with a lemon. It is very unfortunate. When it is working though, I love the machine.

Could have been great but knocking noise
Excellent machine with all the basics, unfortunately the knocking noise that others have mentioned is widespread enough that we now believe it's definitely a manufacturing defect. The problem seems to be at the flywheel assembly itself. We first started hearing it about a week after we got it and it progressively got louder and louder (just like others have described in the 10e reviews). We were still within our 90day return window (3 days left!) We called up the store and they will allow us to return it. The only issue was that we didn't have the original cardboard box it came in, so I would suggest NOT throwing this out in case the noise happens to you too. Save the boxes for at least 3 months. We had the receipt and all the paperwork and manuals so the store manager agreed to let us bring it back since we are going to purchase another one at the same time. This time we are going to try another brand since I've read the 10.0E has the same issue)... We only use this machine for about 30 minutes to 60 minutes a day, combined... after reading other complaints and now dealing with the issue myself, I cannot recommend this machine to others...

DONT BUY!!!!!!!!
Its noisy and falls apart within a couple of months. Some of the bolts have broken and I've had to replace them. This was a piece of junk!! Waste of Money. DONT BUY IT!!!!

JUNK! Do NOT Buy!
Bought this machine on 2-12-12. It is now 4-11-12. We have had 2 different repair people here working on this 4 different times. It gets worse after each service. Have NOT been able to use for 3 weeks now. Company is claiming they will replace the whole unit (but waiting for shipping company to ship) which we will again have to assemble. Then we will have to figure out what to do with the other junk machine. As they will not take it. NOT HAPPY NOT HAPPY NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!

Great workout!
I bought this machine to replace my worn out treadmill. I love how quiet it is. Also, it has the hookup for my iPod. Nice solid construction and clear concise instructions for home assembly.
