what a rod ! i fish hard , every week go in to party boat and this rod n reel works fantastic. December 17, 2014
best rod and reel combo that don't break the bank I bought this reel. When dicks had its sale going on with the free wright and mcgill flats blue rod. I was skeptical at first reading the reviews but took a chance anyways. Its def my favorite setup for catching everything from redfish to cobia. Its always the first rod/reel i grab when im fishing. I fish 3-4 days a week easily all being saltwater. I can say this reel has out performed anything i have had which includes penn's for casting and bringing in the fish. The drag on it is very smooth. It has never let me down def will buy another one when they go back on sale. ALSO on the maintenance part I hose off my reels after every trip and spray them down with the reel spray you get at Walmart and every now and then i open the back and drop a few things of oil that's it and its going on over 2 years and still as smooth as the day i bought it. ALL the pics where brought in by the the reel and rod combos of are fishing team December 9, 2014
Smooth reel Smooth reel, the extra bearing count makes a difference. Haven't had the free time to test how the drag holds up. I have only used this reel three times so far but was real impressed with the feel. December 4, 2014
GLOCK OF FISHING REELS Dunk it, splash it, get tight... Just remember to soak in fresh water than lightly rinse when done. Also after a couple of really good splashes of saltwater, you need to re-grease and oil...Let me say that I have been fishing these reels for several years now. Prior to the release of the new 5000-7000-8000, I've used the 4000 model to land many Snook and other inshore fish. I have used the 7000 model pull in 25-30 lb Red snapper off the reef. The list goes on. These reels are tried and true, I just hope they keep the pricing and quality the same as it has been for the past 5+ years. Keep in mind that Eagle Claw stands behind this reel 100%. Bigger companies make you pay.I own many high end reels... I find that a $99.00 WM Sabalos is comparable to a $300-$500 high end saltwater reel to get the job done. They might not be as smooth or shiny, bu the cranking power and reliability are just as consistent. Proper reel maintenance and care is a must for any saltwater reel. Get one and thank me later... this product broke on the first set up on fish Had to return the reel to the store. Reason 1. after setting on a fish the handle came off because the holding screw broke off and the parts were all over the boat September 16, 2014
