Rated 2 out of 5 by Choice of a lesser God Why Asics has discontinued the JY601 shoe is beyond me. The Matflex, although less expensive, is an inferior shoe to the Split Second series. Asics says the sole is made of gum rubber which I think is false. The Split Second had a genuine gum rubber sole, while the Matflex sole appears to be nothing more than a very flexible vinyl latex. As a result the Matflex pales in comparison to Split Second in traction and confidence in making moves that I KNOW I won't spin or slip out of in my Split Seconds. Split Second was the most popular and effective shoe ever made in my opinion and after these Matflex ones wear out, which I predict will be within 12 months, I'll be shopping other companies for something that comes close to the Split Second but I won't hold my breath. Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible quality controll! I have been wearing Matflex wrestling shoes for the past 4 years as an every day shoe, and for weightlifting and boxing. I loved the matflex 3 and they were very durable and resilient. When I saw that Asics had updated the shoe and changed basically nothing except increase the price, it was disappointing. however I wanted to stick with a shoe I knew and loved. Reading through reviews however I saw a lot of negatives for this shoe... many people complaining about the stitching falling apart after only a few weeks. But I dismissed this and thought it must be a freak occurrence. So I ordered a pair and when they arrived they looked and felt great... but needless to say, this stitching began to come apart after only 1 week of wearing them!!!! I wouldn't expect that even from a $10 shoe from Wall Mart.. so to see that on a $60 sports shoe from Asics was really, really disappointing. Do not buy this shoe May 4, 2015

Rated 3 out of 5 by Not the best I got these shoes for the season and after a month all the seams started to rip. January 18, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good buy I bought these to do beginner MMA trading and they work great. Really light weight but seem sturdy enough. I bought a half size up from my normal. December 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by this product is a fantastic product with great features I really like my shoes. They showed up at the right time! These shoes are exactly what I wanted. They are the perfect colors and they have great features. They have great defined colors and lines. December 5, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality Bought these for my son because we have been very satisfied with previous ASICS mat flex shoes. However, after 2-3 weeks of wear these shoes are disintegrating at all the seams. Very disappointed. November 30, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by coming apart after two weeks I haven't returned this shoe yet, but it is coming apart after two weeks of use. The threads that hold the top of the foot stitching has loosened and the material is flappy now. November 11, 2014
