Rated 5 out of 5 by Solves the sling mount issue on newer Mossberg 500s I'll start by saying I'm a big fan of Mossberg shotguns. In the past Mossberg would drill and tap the barrel lug for a sling mounting point and this works very well, On the newer Mossbergs, however, they no longer drill and tap the lug. Instead they drill and tap the barrel mounting bolt. I'm sure it is easier for them-rather than putting the barrel in a jig and drilling and tapping each one they can chuck the barrel bolt in a lathe and do the operations with a minimum of skilled labor. It;s probably faster too-I've drilled and tapped a couple and it takes a jig, an alignment tool and some skill to do it correctly. The issues I have with the new method are twofold. First, rarely is the sling mount in an ideal position. It seems to be always a little off and you have to either over tighten the barrel bolt, leave it a little loose, or play with different thicknesses of spacers. The other issue is if the sling is off a little, either the barrel bolt will loosen or the swivel mount will loosen-I've had both happen. This product solves those issues by actually having the mounting point fully swivel so that it doesn't matter where the barrel bolt is tightened-the swivel will allow the sling to find it's own alignment, I was able to use this product on one hunt this year and am very pleased with the performance. The other feature I like about this product is that it seems to be a little beefier that the stock Mossberg barrel bolt. It has very pronounced grooves on the gripping area rather that the knurling found on the stock bolts-very easy to tighten even with gloved fingers. With the included tool it was easy and quick to change out the stock bolt and replace it with the Magbolt. If you have a Mossberg 500, I highly recommend this product. I like it so much that I purchased 3 more so that I can change out some more of my guns/barrels. February 3, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Defective The roll pin in the swivel stud came loose and is now in the magazine tube. I have to remove the tube before it can do damage. December 22, 2014
