Rated 1 out of 5 by scout503 Horrible I used this tent one and a half times. The first time was wonderful. When we were camping it was raining. So I when I got home I put the tent up to dry it out, both of the poles splintered.I have purchased many less expensive tents that have lasted many seasons with my family. I can't believe it. I went to take the tent back and of course now they no longer have this model available where I purchased it. So wrote to Kelty themselves and they are sending me new poles, hopefully these last longer than the last ones. What a pain! If their product was good quality to begin with this wouldn't have happened and I won't have wasted so much of my time and energy. October 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by betty1betty2 Perfect for 1 Person I bought my Kelty Tempest 2 Person Tent based on brand name and price. I needed a small tent for camping on the occasional long car trips I make. The tent is very small in the bag and very light. It fit easily in my gear bag. It's easy to set up and take down alone (I am an older lady with arthritis, and I'm 5'5"). The two poles fit together quickly and are super-easy to clip to the tent. I think it took me less than 15 minutes to set up the first time. I would have appreciated a secure port to the outside to run my electric cord (I just trapped it with the double zippers in the doorway like usual). Also, I would have appreciated just a tad more ventilation, perhaps a zippered, screened window opposite the door (I was lazy and didn't stake the guy-wires on the fly like I was supposed to). The two interior pockets are very handy. There was a sling included in the bag that I think you can use to hang stuff from the inside peak that I didn't use. The tent was nice and cozy for one person on a single air mattress with quite a few bags and a couple of small fans; definitely more than adequate. I paid $79.99 + tax. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and would recommend this to a friend. September 21, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ivan Good for one or two without gears Good tent. The missing pieces are footprint (can be part of DIY project) and good vestibule. There is a vestibule but is good only for boots. If you follow the rule to pick right size as n persons = x sleeper + 1, then take this tent for 1 person. I'm returning mine, even I got it for half price, as do not plan hike/camp alone. August 4, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sunny Very light Our granddaughter loved it she was very pleased with the ease of setting up and the fact it was so light to carry. She's not a big girl inky 125 lbs so this was great June 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by DougK Three Seasons in a weekend I picked this up on sale, thinking it would be a good tent for mild weather backpacking. On a two night hike up to rain, all good. No problems. The second night was windy, again it held up well. Now Sunday morning there were gusts up to 60 mph, and 4 inches of snow! Again, everything was fine, no broken poles, no leaks. Of course it was a bit tight for two grown men, but that is the standard footprint on a 2M. This tent gets the job done. May 6, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by bassboy Excellent tent for the price I was needing a new tent that was more packable, and I found this one for a great clearance price (ONLY $79!!!) as I believe Kelty has replaced it with a newer version. It has a basic 2 pole setup, which should not be difficult for the average user. If you are tall like me, getting in and out can be a chore due to its low profile, but that comes with the territory. Once inside though, you are golden with ample room to sit up and maneuver. My lake trip turned cold and windy and it was surprisingly comfortable temperature wise and solid. Like other Keltys, construction is top notch. Two people could fit inside, however, it will be tight and cumbersome. You only have the one side entrance, and will be waking up your tent buddy to get out to answer nature's call. Large or over sized equipment and sleeping bags will brush up against the tent sides. It has plentiful mesh, but I would like to have a dedicated side window (has a small flap for such purpose) for additional cross ventilation with the rain fly. A second side door would be more practical for two person use. If you need true two person capability, opt for a different model with a little more room and two entrance/egress points. Or one which you can enter/exit from the foot/head area. I purchased this for short solo excursions, and, in that use, it is great and I highly recommend it. May 2, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by JoeOftheHill Beware puddling under the floor of this tent If water puddles under this tent, it will soak through, causing a puddle of water inside the tent. So, if you use a ground cover such as a tarp, you must insure that no rain will ride the surface of said tarp and press against the bottom of this tent. April 29, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Erasure999 Great tent so far Based on the reviews from here and on Amazon regarding the fiberglass poles, I went ahead and purchased replacement aluminum poles on eBay for $19.99 as I'll be doing the John Muir Trail and didn't want to risk having a broken tent pole during that time. As for the size inside, it can be 2 person tent if you have nothing inside with you; however this makes for a great one person tent with the ability to keep all your gear inside. The tent itself can actually be rolled up much smaller then how it comes out of the box. The stock tent poles though are pretty long when collapsed. The replacement poles I got actually break down to about 12" in length, which is about the size that I roll the tent up to. If you do decide to get replacement poles make sure you get the correct length and diameter. Attached is an image of the replacement poles I purchased on eBay. April 27, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by camper Not a durable design I will be returning. The poles are flimsy and seem like they would break easily. I like the clips for the tent to the poles - especially at the top where the poles cross so there is no threading of poles through a loop. The vestibule is not worth having the feature. The area is too small to keep anything other to keep more than shoes. The full screen seems nice, but if you try to setup in the rain you will definitely get water in the tent. April 17, 2016
