Rated 1 out of 5 by Not worth it... I'm new to baitcasters and after watching numerous videos on YouTube and reading the directions in the packaging I set out to practice in my yard before taking this out for actual fishing. Regardless of how I adjust the brake system or the spool tension or how much pressure I applied with my thumb (feathering?) this spool consistently tangled up (bird's nest). Upon some closer inspection I noticed that my line was getting caught between the casing and the spool itself. Not sure what to do with it at this point. Will attempt to return it and hopefully get credit toward a different reel. October 1, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Solid reel Just like the spinning reels from the same line the baitcaster has a very smooth drag and casts well. The handles are a little small and slippery otherwise this would be a 5 star value. September 24, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Baitcasting Reel Got this on a flash sale with free shipping. Works well, smooth reeling action. From the online pictures didn't realize it has a modern look with the white and silver. A little flashier than others, but for the price it was worth it. September 24, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Quality but backlashes This product is relatively light and fits perfect in my hand. It reels nice and smooth. When you can get it to cast, it casts very far and comes out of the spool amazing. However, it back lashes a lot and I can't seem to fix the problem. I've changed the settings on it but nothing seems to work. You'll need to practice on it. Overall a quality reel for the price. September 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value This is my second bait caster so I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to them in general. But my first one (shakespeare combo) made me want to give up on baitcasters forever and this okuma changed my mind. I put spider wire braid backed with cheap mono and even while learning have had no issues. No back lashes at all while actualy trying. (I had a fewonderful while goofing around trying out made up techniques). Seems well made and smooth. Very satisfied with this purchase. I do want to add that I was used to spinning reels so I picked a left handed reel to stay comfortable reeling with my left hand and casting with my right September 15, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by warranty issues bought new reel from a boat. it has not worked properly from day 1. locks up on retrieve and i cant get warranty on this problem. great reels when they work right but dont have any issues with them. if you do you might as well count your losses and throw it away. Rated 4 out of 5 by My first baitcaster, used everyday for a week This is my first baitcaster reel, having only used spinning reels prior. I spooled it with P-line flouroclear, 12lb. I set this reel up on a medium action rod, and fished it twice a day every day for the last week. My experience has been great, the casting is very smooth, as is the retrieval. It is equally comfortable with both the heavy jigs I've cast, as well as the surface wakebaits I've used. As for the birdsnests - I can safely say that the nests have been the result of my own mistakes in casting technique. That said, even for a beginner, after watching a few youtubes on how to not overcast, I do not get birdnests very often at all, when I do I am aware that I made a technique error, and for it's worth, the reel clears nests pretty easily and cleanly. Overall, I'm very happy with reel, and for being on sale at half off, I think it would be hard to find another reel that would suit my needs better without a major increase in the price point. So all in all, I'm satisfied to the point that I will probably buy at least one more to set up on another rod. Good times. September 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great reel Casts far, reels smooth and pulls in 3 pounders with ease. I've never even had a backlash with it (I've only used it a few times though). September 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Okuma Stratus V Baitcasting Reel I used it for the first time yesterday. Casted fine, with no problems. August 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice reel! Nice reel for the price. Cast smooth and far. Has pretty good drag and torque for its small profile. Fits in hand nicely. August 19, 2016
