Best braces I have ever had!!!! I bought these braces because my ankles pretty badly when I was younger playing different sports, so now they sprain much easier. Over the last 10+ years I have tried dozens of ankle braces and hated every single one of them. Some were too loose, too tight, not enough support, no range of motion, uncomfortable to were...the list goes on. Recently I have taken up hiking and planned a trip where I knew the terrain was pretty rough (rocky, narrow and steep). Last time I hiked it I ended up on crutches for a few months with a bad ankle sprain. My doctor suggest active ankle and I figured I had nothing to lose. So I bought one for each ankle a couple weeks before the trip and wore them around to break them in a bit. They are surprisingly comfortable given the level support and after a few days I hardly noticed they were there. Went for the 2 day hike including climbing 2000+ feet in elevation in less than 2 miles and came home with no pain at all. Not even a little sprain! I have been telling all my friends that it is WELL worth the price and the best purchase I have made in a long time!!! April 17, 2013
Straps too short I bought this brace for my daughter who has sprained her right ankle many times and needed a good quality brace that she can wear for softball. First of all, you can't put the brace on and then put your shoe on. You have to put the brace in the shoe first and then figure out how to cram your foot into the shoe with the brace in it. You have to twist your ankle to get it into the shoe, a very difficult and painful process. After about 3 tries we managed to get the shoe and brace on her foot, only to discover the velcro straps on the brace weren't long enough to wrap around her ankle. Then we had to pry the shoe back off of her foot. It's also recommended for shoes with removeable insoles which her Asics do not have. Basically your insoles are what holds this brace into the shoe and keeps the hard bottom of it from digging into the bottom of your foot, so even if the brace had fit, it probably wouldn't have worked in her indoor practice shoes. We never tried it in her cleats since the straps were too short. We returned it to the store and found a better quality lace up brace at a medical supply store for less money. March 26, 2013
Slightly uncomfortable I received these for christmas. I have no big complaints except that the bars/beams, or whatever you call them, rub on my foot weird and bothered me. But I decided to try using that cut and stick padding from dr scholls, I cut it to fit the length of the bar that ran down into the shoe. And, bingo it was absolutely perfect they no longer bother my feet and still provide superb protection! I recommend that anyone who gets ankle braces puts some type of padding in them. Piece of mind Being a volleyball player, my daughter abuses her ankles and would come home after practice complaining of soreness. After suffering a minor ankle sprain, I decided we needed to protect her ankles and did some research. Resoundingly, the Volt product was the brace volleyball players use and recommend. I purchased this product and at first my daughter said they weren't entirely comfortable. But after wearing them for a few weeks now, she says they feel just fine and more importantly, she isn't complaining of ankle pain after practice anymore. We had to watch the tutorial to figure out how to put them on and then confirm with other wearers on her team, but now she's a pro. I am very glad I didn't wait until my daughter had a serious injury to buy these braces, and now I have piece of mind that she has a measure of protection for her game. January 30, 2013
Wish I could have tried it! I purchased this brace to use following the the release from a walking boot after the fracture and grade II sprain of my left ankle. Upon getting it home and trying it on with my orthotic arch supports the brace was too narrow to contain the orthotic within the stabilizers, and the orthotic was not flat enough to maintain proper alignment of the brace. Unfortunately I had to return the brace without being able to use it and will have to seek another style or brand of ankle support that will allow the use of my orthotics. The box and right ups suggest that it will work with orthotic arch supports, but in my case that was not so. November 13, 2012
This product does the job. The brace makes walking on uneven ground much more pleasant. It can be worn inside boots and is reasonably comfortable with extra socks to cushion the ankle bones. Extended wear requires additional cushioning. October 28, 2012
Very Good Brace Very supportive and flexible October 17, 2012
