Insulated waders are ideal for staying dry while duck hunting, fishing or enjoying other outdoor activities that find you walking or standing in water. Today’s high performance insulated waders deliver a combination of rugged durability, warmth and cushioning to help you stay focused on a successful day in the field. DICK’S Sporting Goods carries an extensive collection of waders in multiple sizes from Pro Line®, Drake Waterfowl® and many other leading brands.

Insulated waders are available in either bootfoot or stockingfoot styles. Stockingfoot waders have a flexible sole, similar to a sock, at the bottom, while bootfoot waders include an attached boot.

Stockingfoot waders are worn with a separate wading boot, which allows hunters and anglers to choose a boot that provides the desired degree of cushioning and support. They are also typically easier to clean and store when not in use. Bootfoot waders are an excellent choice if you plan to hunt or fish in cold conditions, or if you will be using your insulated waders in saltwater, which can corrode the metal hardware on external wading boots.

Expert Advice

A good pair of insulated waders can make a tremendous difference in your comfort and enjoyment while hunting or fishing. Whether you're a fly angler or an experienced duck hunter, keep these points in mind as you explore your options:

  • As with your other hunting gear, a proper fit is essential to getting the most from your insulated waders. Waders that are too small can restrict your range of motion, while waders that are too large can leave gaps that compromise your waders’ insulation and water protection. Use the size guide available online at DICK’S Sporting Goods to choose the waders that are right for you.
  • Be sure to check the insulation weight of your waders. In general, insulation with a higher weight provides increased protection from cold water.
