I bought the Gerber Method at my local Di?k's store a few weeks back. Compared with the Leatherman, the Gerber seemed like a bargain. I could get more tools for about half the price of the Leatherman plus a lifetime warranty. But I soon began to notice the difference in quality. First, the tools on one side of the set were impossible to unfold without using another tool to pry them open. I understand that I could have loosened the hinges with a hex screwdriver, but I expected it to work properly from the beginning. Then after just a few uses, the spring mechanism on the scissors bent so that the blades get stuck in the closed position and have to be manually pried open.
I'm going to Di?k's today to exchange for a Leatherman.
