Don't buy this product we got one we had to bring that one back . So we ot another one of the same kind now we have to bring it back too this will be the last time .we are buying another but not the same one..
Ok, so wasnt sure since the reviews are poor but I have to say it was really esy to put together....all the parts were packaged together by which step they were in assembly, they were already greased and the diagrams were great. I am a mom of (sson to be 2) small children and needed a low impact cardio that will tone. I am very happy...to all the people who didnt get hte extended warranty your not very wise.....It is inexpensive and will cover all the reported issues. Also, you should grease the hardware every few months if you use the machine frequently and can by stronger bolts at lowes to prevent heavy use from breaking it down.
All in all, great for the price....if you want something better spend the extra cash.
I love this machine, and if your worried about it breaking after the 90 day then you should have been smart about it and got the 3 year one. genius.
I love it. I bought the machine about 5 months ago and I enjoy it. It seems sturdy and reliable.
I have had this machine for a few weeks now and I have like it. I have had no problems. It is not as nice as the ones at the gyms, but for the price, it was a good buy. It took about 1-2hrs to put together. It can be a pain to move around though.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM FITNESS GEAR. I purchased the machine 830e which has not worked since the 90 day warranty was up. The screen has frozen up and now the customer service dept. will not return any calls that we have made over the past two months. By far the worst purchase of my life!
As another consumer commented I purchased this machine under a year ago for home use. Everything was working fine until one day I turned on the machine and the display was frozen. After multiple attempts to reach the company I finally was able to speak to a representative about the issue. I have been told it is a glitch in the display and that a new display will be needed that will cost [$]. I would not purchase this product again.
Like the majority of the other reviews, the right bolt attaching the foot cup to the resistance mechanism broke after about 90 days. I would not recommend anyone purchase this machine.
I have the same issue that several of the other have reported. I bought this 3 months ago and today the right pedal bolt broke off. I am attempting to contact the company, and hopefully will get it fixed soon. Wish I had read these reviews prior to purchasing this machine.
I bought this machine and used it faithfully 5 days a week for about 4 months and then suddenly one Sunday I was working out and the bolt on the pedal snapped clear through and I almost smacked my face off of the monitor. It was quite frightening. We can't get the bolt out and apparently need to pay to get the whole thing replaced. It was [$]of my hard earned money and was completely not worth it. Even if I fix it, which I haven't yet, I am afraid to use it now because I'm getting married in a few months and don't want to knock my teeth out!Don't waste your money on this product. Get a gym membership or buy something with better reviews that doesn't fall apart a month after the warranty expires. This seems to be a common theme and this company should [*] recall at least the bolts that keep snapping. Someone is going to get hurt and sue them...

I used the elliptical every day and after 3 months it started making a horrible noise. The warranty people came and couldn't find anything wrong, 30 minutes into my next workout it started making the same horrible grinding noises. Finally [...] refunded the money so I can get a new elliptical.

We bought the Fitness Gear 820e elliptical last Christmas. We used it 2 to 3 times per week for several months. In the spring the display went dead (after the 90 day warranty). I checked the internal wiring but cannot find the problem. Now I cannot find a website with user / troubleshooting instructions. I guess we will call a service representative. With three kids this is too time consuming - it has been sitting for three months so far.

I also have this elliptical and my pedal broke as well. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is not going to make this a coatrack.

I hope the people who have reviewed this machine positively save their receipt, and use it to take the machine back before the 90 days is up. This machine is very poorly engineered and cheaply built. We owned it for 5 weeks (purchasd it in July 2007), and my 150 lb wife used it about 4 days per week for 20-30 minutes at a time and while she was using it the main bolt that holds the right foot pedal to the wheel hub sheered right off and the foot pedal fell off. Very dangerous. The weight limit for this machine is a little over 200 lbs I believe (maybe 250 I forget). I sure as heck wouldn't attempt top use it if I weighed over 200 lbs that's for sure.
Further investigation revealed that the bolt in question was not a solid steel bolt, despite the fact that this is the greatest point of torque and tension on the machine. It was a bolt filled with some sort of cement-like material. When it sheared the inside of the still-perfectly-round steel shell twisted and deformed like grey puddy. Furthermore, the bolt is WELDED onto the piece that attaches to the wheel, so it can't be replaced with a good quality solid steel bolt - the entire mechanism has to be replaced.
For those of you who assembled your own machine, you'll remember that bolt. It's easy enough to take the pedal off and see what I'm talking about. Just look for the vertical bolt that's welded on to the piece that does the revolutions when you use the machine.
Granted, if you buy the full parts and labor warranty like we did you COULD have them replace the piece, if not that piece is like $30 or something I think. But the problem is, the pedals will continue to break off becuase the quality of that bolt is extremely poor. The more you use it and the more you weigh, the sooner that bolt will break. I'm sure that statistically it would follow a pretty steady curve where as user weight and usage go up so does the frequency of breakage, and vice versa.
We took it back and got our money back knowing the left poedal would soon go as well and then 2 months later the right again and again. It's inevitable due to the design. We'll go a different route because this machine is not built to last very long at all, and what a pain hauling it back in to return.
Anyways, the bottom line is, those of you who just bought this probably have a nasty surprise coming within 3 months. If it happens after 90 days you're out of luck and can only get it fixed and can't get your money back. So you'll be stuck with repeated repairs for the same flaw unless they somehow are able to replace it with a solid steel bolt (but I doubt it).
Just stay away from this one. This will save you huge headaches shortly down the road. You can also call a 1-800 number and get your warranty money refunded as well if you have to return it.
If you decide to keep it, good luck and post back sometime to let us know if the machine lasted more than 3-6 months (like I said, depending on your usage and you weight).

We needed something that was convenient to our twice a week gym workouts. Just to keep the heart rate up and reduce everyday stress. This elliptical fit the bill. It has a small footprint but is really sturdy. I'm 6'2" 250 and it handles me with relative ease. Best of all is the price. [$] is very inexpensive and leaves enough $ for the 3 year extended warranty.
