Make the most of your time in the powder with a snowboard tuned to perfection. Follow these simple snowboard maintenance steps and learn how to clean, bevel and wax your board.

You should clean your board after every few rides, using rags and Swix base cleaner.

  1. Use a dry rag to sweep away dirt and dust from your board.
  2. Apply Swix base cleaner to the entire base by wiping in long, straight lines. Apply the cleaner to your rag or directly to your board. Let the cleaner set for 15 minutes.
  3. After the cleaner has evaporated, again wipe your board clean with a dry rag.

Beveling the edges of your snowboard enhances grip, helping it bite into snow for better control as you maneuver your ride.

  1. Inspect the edge of your board for nicks.
  2. Use a Swix pocket edger and begin filing the edge of board’s base. In short strokes, sharpen one portion at a time.
  3. When complete, your edge should be clean and smooth.

Waxing your snowboard boosts its glide and safeguards against nicks and abrasions – so your board stays durable longer.

  1. Plug in your Swix wax iron. Select the right wax for your board – all-weather and cold temperature waxes are available.
  2. Press the wax against the hot iron, letting it melt and drip evenly across the board. Many snowboarders first outline the edges, then fill in the center.
  3. Use your iron to spread wax across the surface of the board, moving it continuously to avoid burns.
  4. Let the wax cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Scrape away excess with a Swix wax scraper.
  1. Simply apply Swix universal wax liberally across your base.
  2. Let the wax dry for three minutes.
  3. Buff the base to a high sheen using your Swix combi brush.
