I bought this to replace an old pop- up which had bowed, bent and broke at the middle brace points. I bought this one specifically for the reinforced braces in the middle and it did n't bow in once even during a rain storm in the mountain of Southern CO. The vented top was perfect for the wind, which was n't super strong, but was moving the top quite a bit! Really liked the idea of closing and opening these vents. Even had one side closed& the other open during the rain so it would n't come in us while we were cooking! Also bought this because of parts replacements, even thought I have n't needed it, very nice to know that it's available! The issue we had when putting it up, was a screw in the inside leg at the bottom was n't put in straight and it was catching the outer leg from extending. In step 3 of the instructions, Figure D was impossible to do! Had to have 2 people work at this to get it to click!

While a bit heavier than just the standard rainfly( which completely makes sense) it is not much heavier. This is great for trips where you expect more rain and/or plan to have a base camp. I really like that it is a full rainfly and large vestibule and not just an add on to the existing fly.

I have used my copper spur hv ul 2 with hotel rainfly backpacking so many times and I have never been disappointed. I even used it on a 12 day backpacking venture through Philmont and it was awesome.

Such a good addition. Disclaimer: I 'm a biased BA fan. The sleeping bags, pads and tents I 've had from Big Agnes have been phenomenal, and as far as I 'm concerned you 'll be happy with any purchase. That being said, this addition is perfect if you have big backpacks you need to be weather safe under a fly, and if you want to wake up and stick your feet out of your tent and get your shoes on without getting wet, if you like leaving your shoes outside or a box of food or an instrument but do n't want morning dew or rain on it, and if you travel in pairs it sure is nice to have the space to move in and out without feeling cramped. As someone who likes the small, lightweight and practicality of the Copper Spur, I think the Copper Hotel is a great addition to have more space without needing a bulkier tent.

This Gear shed attachment for the Elixir is awesome! I was little worried before purchase after reading other reviews about how easy it would be to attach. After a few nights backpacking and camping with the gear shed, I 'm stoked on it! First time setting it up was semi tricky, but 2nd and 3rd time I set it up super smooth and taught. It saw some light rain and snow with medium 20 mph winds the other weekend and preformed great! I had 3 other peeps, dog and my gear hanging out cooking and chilling all evening in my 2 man tent with the attachment on while winds roared and rain drizzled outside, we hung out all warm and comfy out of the elements. I am looking forward to having this as a basecamp for the group when weather is less than ideal but you still want to hang out and eat. I was super impressed when the Gear shed is all sealed up how little breeze gets under the edges. It's great to listen to the winds roar outside and feel very little air movement in the tent on cold winter nights. Then in the morning when the sun hits the tent and warms up you can open the vestibule on one side of the Elixir and the Gear Shed on the other side and get a great breeze through the tent as the openings face opposite directions and force air flow though tent to wick away any condensation that had built up through the night. Very well engineered shelter attachment that was worth the pickup.

I have been using this with my Copper Spur UL3 and it works great. It's a great addition to my lightweight collection. The included instructions are a little tricky to follow, and there were no great setup videos online. Practice setting up in the light before bringing it camping. [ I just purchased this in the 9x9. Have used the 12x12 and the 16x16 for a number of years. They ’ ve changed the color a couple of time but features are unchanged in the time I ’ ve been using them. Square shape is only way to go. Kudos for configuring this way. So many tarps are rectangular. For a haystack, sure. Fine. For a shelter, the square has far more setup options. There ’s heavy tieouts on the four corners and lighter ones along the edges. Well spaced. A little stretch to keep it taught.. important in rain. I don ’ t know if they market this as a rain shelter but that ’s all I use it for. The big one if camping next to a car, the 12x12 for rafting. This 9x9 for backpacking. Two lbs may seem like quit a bit to pack for a tarp but covered area is pretty great. And large enough to configure in some version of a ‘ storm ’ mode if conditions warrant. I have a HMG DCF tarp. It ’s 8. 5x8. 5 with no stretch. Definitely harder to get a taught pitch. It ’s light as a feather but that extra half foot per side is more than it sounds on this Kelly. 12% more covered area even though only 6% more length.. ya know if you get all STEM about it... I won ’ t go into costs per square foot between the two and it ’s not even really a fair comparison given the different materials used but if your not into packing a piece of square fabric that costs as much as a pair of skis, this is one of the best values out there right now.

The mechanism to open and close this canopy is genius. It takes a minute to get the hang of it, but can absolutely be fully opened with legs extended in a minute, by yourself. More importantly, you can close it yourself( also very easily) in just seconds, and without needing to recruit three other people to help you like other canopies. This canopy is far better quality than any of the typical canopies you see at tailgates or soccer tournaments. It's heavier than other canopies, but it comes with a great quality bag with wheels which makes it easy to move. The straight- leg design means that you have a full 10 x 10 covered area as many other brands have angled legs which make the space under the canopy smaller than 10x10. This one feels much bigger than a typical canopy. I will be showing this off and recommending to all of my tailgate friends and fellow lacrosse parents. I got the grey color which is simple and neutral.

This canopy is incredible. We use it for youth baseball tournaments and everyone that sees it thinks it's awesome. It is absolutely the easiest canopy I 've seen to put up and take down. It is of better quality than any others also. Only thing that you will need to get used to is that is much heavier than others you may have used in the past, but that is due in large part to the quality. It would have benefited also from having tie points for the anchor system to tie it down but it is manageable. Be careful also not to drop it on the wheels when unloading as the pins that hold the wheels will bend due to the weight.

Hats off to the engineers at GCI.... The old days of 2 or four people pulling each corner of a canopy outwards are over. This canopy makes it crazy simple for one person to quickly set up a canopy without needing any support from others. Be ready to have onlookers impressed with your new rig. In the first week of owning this canopy, I was able to use it camping with my family and also at a Lacrosse Tournament. While we were setting up our tent, a quick thunderstorm was passing through. We quickly set this up over our tent to prevent rain from getting in the tent.( we did n't trust the rain fly on our tent). We also used this canopy as a sun shelter while camping. At the lacrosse tournament, this canopy stood out among the others with its stylish branding and blue color. The lax team and families were able to quickly find our home base under the canopy. This was our location for gear, drinks, snacks, and resting between games. The biggest challenge with this canopy is the expectation that it operates like canopies from the past. Knowledge and experience with past canopies and their design may impede upon learning a new technology and design. People will find that the Initial set up is very different. GCI created clever instructions and a great video to learn the new method. I 'm not someone to read directions so the video was useful for me. Once you 've learned the set up method... subsequent set ups are like riding a bike. Bonus features of this canopy are- Solid carrying case with wheels, handles, pocket for stakes and big opening for sliding the canopy in and out.- Robust sturdy framing- Double layer padded friction spots to prevent any tearing- Flick down legs for quick assembly- Stylish and robust canopy fabric- Air vents at the top to allow wind and air movement areas that could use improvement...- bigger wheels on bag would help with rough terrain but current wheels do alright- maybe a longer velcro pull strap on the canopy to wrap around the corner of the tent frame to get more adherence to velcro.- Would love it if there was an optional mosquito screen accessory All in all, I 'm loving this canopy... its a game- changer! I will never go back to the old style of canopies!

There's adequate interior space to accommodate a comfy( appropriately scaled) camp style chair, mini size cooler, and large tote bag/ backpack. The two side windows, front door, and small flap in the back can be unzipped according to preference and comfort needs. Unlike other weather pods, the front door unzips from the top down rather than the reverse which is much more suitable for control of visibility and comfort. The pod comes with stakes for added stability during increment and/or windy weather. I also like that it comes with a carrying case. The pod is quite easy to open and close once you practice a few times and become more familiar with the process. However, I found it very helpful to first view the video on the manufacturer's website. I highly recommend this amazing pop up pod for protection and comfort on cooler, windy, and/or rainy days. This review is based on the fitting of the product- not a review based on usage in the elements. I let it sit out in the sun for 15 minutes- attached the bars underneath the top and it fits perfectly covering the entire Bonfire. I tried the fire ring upside down and turned it over like when using it during a fire and the shelter fits fine. I see the videos/photos of this sitting on the firepit stand, I assume it should be used that way for breath- ability when storing outdoors. Will review again once used in elements.

In its first week of use, it survived a big wind storm, hail, and a lightning storm. It weathered all three spectacularly- as did the people inside! We stayed dry and protected with no problem. [ We absolutely love our Coleman Dark Room Skydome camping tent! It was so easy to set up. It is very well made It comes with a carrying bag which is nice, we also like that the poles to this tent stay attached and had a little Velcro strap that keeps them all together, there is a nylon cover for the top of the the tent to prevent rain from entering. It also provides adequate room for up to 6 people to sleep comfortable It holds a big queen size air mattress easily and it stays pretty dark. I would definitely recommend it to those who are looking for space and comfort.

[ I am absolutely ecstatic about my 6- Person Dark Room Skydome Camping tent in blue that I purchased a month ago! This was the best purchase I 've me in a long time! The room in it is beyond words! It's 6 foot tall in the middle and can sleep 6. It was so easy to set up and take down. There was plenty of room for our whole family and it's so durable. It even has a cover for rain and you can tie it down in case the weather gets bad. My children and my basset hound had the absolute best time camping and because this tent was so durable and easy to set up and take down, we had lots of time to enjoy our little vacation. We have decided to take another camping trip soon and ca n't wait to use it again. My son has some health issues and this tent has Dark Room Technology which blocks 90% of the sunlight and reduces heat in the tent, which makes it better for people that have issues with the heat. This works amazingly too, because my son stayed cool and we were able to enjoy our trip because of this. It's also been designed and tested for storm conditions, which helps me breath much easier knowing we are safe. The amount of room in this tent is unlike any tent I have ever seen. The carrying bag made it so easy to take along, the wide door design made it easier to get in and out of, the storage pockets gave us room to put stuff out of the way, and the detachable rainfly gave me peace of mind. I felt so safe and secure and could focus on my trip and having fun with the kids knowing we chose this tent! We love it!

[ Was looking for a car camping tent, larger and more comfortable than the backpacking tent I 've had for ages. The DogHouse would sleep 2 very comfortably, you could sleep 4 if you do n't mind being a sardine. Steep sided walls gives the tent a very spacious feel. I could erect and take down the tent solo, but did struggle a bit the first time I pitched the tent to insert the tent pole into the final grommet. Also took me a while to figure out how to get the horizontal top pole out of the snap when breaking the tent down. Overall, the tent erected pretty quickly and easily in subsequent uses after the fabric stretched out a bit. Good ventilation, beefy stakes, seems to be a strong, stable tent, certainly fine for summer camping, probably 3 season. Worst conditions I 've been in are moderate wind and rain overnight, and the tent shed water no problem. I 'm assuming the fabric has a DWR coating, and it's unclear how long the waterproofing would last. I did not buy the ridiculously expensive footprint, just used a tarp close to the correct size and that worked fine. Tent material did catch in the zipper when zipping open or close the door. I wonder if anyone has solved this though.

It pops right out. Open the zipper and we put our chairs in. We didnt need the extra materials for the setup but we might later. The capacity was 5. 2 adults, 3 teens. The take down process, well there were no instructions but was in a rush so we just folded it and carried it to our trunk. It was very useful while watching fireworks and no mosquitos flying around constantly!

This thing is awesome! I was debating between this and the heavier version by Sea to Summit, but I 'm glad I got this version as it is incredibly tiny when in it's sack and lightweight. Definitely worth the extra cost! It takes the place of a backpack cover, rain jacket, tarp, and( potentially) rain pants in your pack, while being smaller and lighter than any of those items by themselves! The stuff sack is small( which can be a positive when considering the amount of room you save in your pack) however I was, with some effort, able to get it back in effectively after removing it for use. I am excited to continue to put this thing to the test here in the PNW where rains are, at times, incessant. I do find myself wondering if further enhancement of design could enable better protection from rain for the arms, however I understand that this is a tarp/ poncho combo, so it would be a challenge that would likely drive up price a bit as well and would add material in random places when being used as a tarp.
