Come to find out my wife and mother in law sold that pair in a yard sale..:( Waited things out and they came on sale at Dick's for just under$ 285. Pulled the trigger for another pair of 8 EE's and just could not be more pleased. This time, bought the new Danner DXT Comfort Insoles( direct for Danner), and they made the best hiking boot, even better. Yeah, They are a lot of money, but they are well worth every penny. I 've been researching hiking boots for several months and Asolo's products kept coming up over and over as the premier choice among experienced hikers. I was impressed by the loyalty of Asolo customers, and liked the look and reported performance of the Asolo Fugitive GTX Boot. Initially, I purchased the same size as my other boots, a 9 1/2. Upon the first test fit, I knew they were too small and returned the pair for a half size larger. The size 10 fit perfectly, but I will caution that these boots run a bit narrow( I do not have particularly large feet). Asolo thoughtfully offers `` wide '' sizes as well. I christened my new pair of Fugitives by taking a 33 mile trek on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina in early March. The trail had a good bit of snow, ice and mud. Temperatures during the three day trip ranged from 17 to 64 degrees( F), and included periods of rain and snow. The boots performed beautifully in terms of thermal and waterproof qualities. Also, these boots are very easy to put on, which is a plus when going for that 1am potty run in the cold. My only criticism of the design is that the insole is made of an extremely hard material. By day three, the balls of my feet were hurting pretty badly, and definitely detracted from the enjoyment of my trip. Adding an extra layer of socks helped marginally. I 've never experienced this problem before, so, upon arriving back home, I compared the insole to that in my older boots. Big difference; my older( HiTec) boots( which are falling apart after 15 years) have a much softer insole. I love the Asolo Fugitive GTX Boot, but will definitely add a gel insole prior to my next trip. These are, by far, the nicest( and most expensive) hiking boots I 've ever owned, and would definitely recommend them to others, but with the cautions regarding the sizing and insole material. I hope to add a couple thousand comfortable miles to these boots in the years to come.

There is also ample grip on any terrain. The boot kept my feet warm on a cool day. No experience yet in hot weather. They are a bit heavy but they are bullet proof.

[ I usually don ’ t rate products but these boots are great. They took virtually no time to break in even though they are a bit stiff. Use them hiking in the mountains and the give me great support which is mainly what I was looking for in a boot. Be aware they are a bit on the heavy side but for me they are worth it. I have used them one season and they still look great, very tough exterior really resist scuffs from rocks.

I have a pair of the military issue version of these boots, love these boots! I walk my dog in the high desert of NM around 4 miles a day. The are just right, not to heavy but give great support and protection in the varying high desert terrain. Just purchased a new pair, these are almost exactly the same as the issue version. The only difference is the new version has hooks at the very top lace, opposed to the holes on the mil version, which is even better!

[ Had these boots for a month now, I have not had the privilege to take them on a serious hike yet. I have had them off road in mud, the treads load up, but do self clean. The Gore- Tex liner works good, almost too good. My feet seemed to overheat in temps over 30 degrees. They are comfortable and require no break in period. I can see why Danner Crater Rim boots are a boot of choice for SOF operators in Afghan and other challenging environment. Best of all they are American made!!

I committed to a winter hiking hut trip this past month and knew that I needed something waterproof and after window shopping( literally every boot tailored for women who love the great outdoors) kept coming back to these. After weeks of considering my options, I decided to take the plunge on these. I received my order about 10 days before the hut trip. The first day I trying them on they felt great, but the second day( when I intended to start wearing them every minute of every day to break them in pre- trip) I noticed that they felt quite roomy, despite having ordered exactly as the size chart indicated. I immediately began looking for a half size smaller and low and behold, they were sold out everywhere. Despite my immediate panic, with lack of better options I ended up committing to the size ordered paired with a thick pair of wool socks for the trip( 6. 5ish miles each way, 2kish in elevation gain on the way up). I am delighted to report that despite feeling a bit roomy when I tried them on, the wool socks made the fit perfect. The trip up proved to be the most foot- comfy hike I 've ever had! My feet stayed entirely warm, which has never happened without Hot Hands in my socks in winter hikes for me. Beyond that, the boots were completely submerged in snow due to post- holing multiple times throughout the weekend, but my feet stayed 100% dry the entire trip. These paired well with my Kahtoola microspikes and Orvis snowshoes. All in all I 'm completely impressed and can not wait to hike more in these boots. If you have gear anxiety and are on the fence about ordering these( like I was), I highly encourage you to get off the fence and order! My initial impression is that this is the best boot purchase I could 've made.

Im a delivery driver so when I was looking for boots my aim was to find a pair that were light weight, comfortable, water resis., and had good traction. These shoes checked off all the boxes. I bought these 3 months ago and they are holding up very well. I wear them for 10- 14 hours a day at work and I work in wet muddy conditions. Work boots, any brand I ’ ve tried many different brands over the years, usually last 2 months a few lasted 3 months but they were destroyed. This boot is extremely comfortable, still waterproof, little damage, light weight, fits true and helps with leg and back fatigue. Honestly the best boot for work I ’ ve had over the 25 years in the craft.

These are great hiking boots…I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and have hiked hundreds of miles all over the world. Over 40 years of mountain hiking experience, these boots have served me well. Don ’ t pay attention to the troll who posted several negative reviews under different names, his job is to do that and it ’s really not truthful. These trolls are paid to rag others, because their products can ’ t compete. Besides, Columbia would surely warranty any defects. So, I have used many high end hiking boots from top makers costing twice, even three times as much. These are well crafted with good materials, are very comfortable and lightweight. I find no defects and were perfect in every way. Great traction on slippery surfaces, rocks and grades. Waterproof as good as any high quality brand. I 'm very sure no one makes a better boot for the money, even those higher priced offerings. Very flexible shoes. I took them to the Galapagos Islands, and they held out very well on hikes, on boats and are attractive enough to wear out to dinner. They were perfect for the consistent rain in Ecuador. Very easy and convenient to put on. I 'm very happy with them. My only wish is that they worked better with my orthotics. Keens are absolutely awesome! These are my 10th pair of Keen shoes. I have all different styles and they are all comfortable right from the start. There is no break in time for them. I got these boots just a few months ago and have already hiked over 100 miles in them and have had zero blisters or sore spots!( I am training for the Camino in Spain and these will definitely be my boots for the trip!). I have also been out in the rain with them a couple times, and along with my rain pants, my feet stayed dry. I intentionally splashed around in puddles like a little kid and my feet stayed completely dry and warm! My favorite feature of Keens is their wide toe box. While they make your feet look a little big, I do n't care. Being able to wiggle my toes and not have that tight fit is worth a million to me. And because they are a little wider than other boots, they are very stable. I 've never have my ankle break over when hiking on uneven or soft ground. I ca n't say enough about these boots. I highly recommend them and will be a loyal Keen customer for life! Keens do also run a tad small, so I always buy a half size up to allow for a good thick sock. I 'm usually a size 6 1/2, but I buy my Keens in a size 7.

Not too heavy, and the waterproofing has worked well so far in my three months of ownership. I 've bought these Keen Targhee boots for several years. My latest pair arrived in mid April in the middle of a northern Wisconsin spring storm with rain, snow, sleet, and hail, all at the same time. I generally hate hiking shoes due to their weight and bulk, but definitely don ’ t have that problem with the sypes. The toe box is spacious enough to accommodate my weird feet, and the inserts and good enough that I do n't have to replace them with orthotic- wear type insoles. The color fades quickly, but who cares? I have a sort of weird gait, so I wear down the outside of the heel sooner than I would like, but that happens with all my shoes. I do n't think it's a durability fault, because most of the sole retains its tread.

I work for the Forest Service in Michigan. I have owned 4 pair of these boots and have put them through their paces. They are the only boots I will ever buy. If you have doubts, do n't. Just get them. You wo n't be sorry. The only thing I wish they had was some sort of toe guard. Other than that, they are top- notch.

I am 70 years old and still active. This is my 3rd pair of these Asolo's. Great boots, and great fit. These have gone to back country Alaska and Northern Canada and on dozens of ski trips. Got within about 400 feet of top of Mt Elbert in Colorado in them. Ca n't recommend them enough.. You will be pleased

I was disappointed that these boots were not offered in wide so I did not pursue purchasing them. Then I saw they were in stock at a Dicks SP by the house and thought I should at least go down and try them on. I am so glad I did as the normal size fit and they have become more comfortable the more I have worn them.

I was so excited to find these hiking boots from Merrell. Their brand never fails me. I was anxious to get out for my first hike in them. They are strong, supportive, and my feet do n't get tired. There's no fatique after hiking. Even a long 5 mile hike. Hiked over rocks, and I could feel the support. No slip! For me, I would wear these all four seasons with the proper socks.
