I 've been fishing fresh and salt water with the Johnson's Minnow spoon for over 60 years and find them perfect for fishing the grassy flats, weeds and pads for nearly all fish. I always hook on a plastic grub or pork rind strip as I believe that enhances the effectiveness. Some times I 'll cast onto a pad and wiggle it off, or let it settle on the bottom, then retrieve with a small jerk similar to fishing a plastic worm. It casts easily so 1/4 oz. is good for most spinning outfits, while 1/2 oz. works best with a casting rod. For me, silver has been the best all around, but I 'm trying out colors too, especially for salt water. If I had to fish just one spoon this would be it because of it's versatility.

One of the top lures of all time, been fishing with them since 1975. One of my all time favorites and go to lures as well as start with lures. Prefer the hammered chrome in 5/8, 3/4, 1oz. The hammered chrome seems to have a slight edge over the plain chrome in my estimation. You may have to get the 1 oz on Ebay vintage listing as I do n't think you will fine it listed. Great cast, trolled or deep water jigged. Will take most fish but I use for lake trout, walleye, N. Pike.

Fish lure spoons are fishing lures designed to mimic the movement of baitfish in the water. Their unique shape allows them to wobble and flash as they are retrieved, attracting predatory fish. The reflective surface of the spoon enhances visibility, making it an effective choice for various fishing environments.
Fish lure spoons are versatile and can be used to catch a wide range of species, including trout, bass, pike, and walleye. Their effectiveness often depends on the size and color of the spoon, as well as the fishing conditions. Anglers often choose specific spoons based on the target species and local fishing regulations.
When selecting a fish lure spoon, consider the size, weight, and color that best match the local forage and water conditions. The depth at which you plan to fish is also important, as heavier spoons can reach deeper waters more effectively. Additionally, the action of the spoon during retrieval can influence its effectiveness in attracting fish.
Effective techniques for using fish lure spoons include varying your retrieval speed and incorporating pauses to mimic the erratic movement of injured baitfish. Experimenting with different depths and angles can also help determine what works best in a given situation. Additionally, using a steady, smooth retrieve can enhance the spoon's action and increase your chances of a catch.
Fish lure spoons are commonly made from metal, which provides durability and allows for a reflective finish that attracts fish. Some spoons may also feature additional coatings or finishes to enhance their visibility in the water. The choice of material can affect the lure's weight, action, and overall effectiveness.
