I have fairly narrow feet and these fit perfectly and are very comfortable. You ca n't even tell they have a steel toe. My only complaint is the top lace grommet. It has a different type of hook so it is a little difficult to get the lace in it when it is pulled out. I still rate this as Excellent though.

I began eyeing these boots( along with a few other pairs of Danners) when I really got into hiking this past year, but was hesitant to purchase as I 've seen a million reviews( on literally every hiking boot ever made) that talks about the break- in requirement and resulting blisters, foot pain, lost toenails and the likes. I committed to a winter hiking hut trip this past month and knew that I needed something waterproof and after window shopping( literally every boot tailored for women who love the great outdoors) kept coming back to these. After weeks of considering my options, I decided to take the plunge on these. I received my order about 10 days before the hut trip. The first day I trying them on they felt great, but the second day( when I intended to start wearing them every minute of every day to break them in pre- trip) I noticed that they felt quite roomy, despite having ordered exactly as the size chart indicated. I immediately began looking for a half size smaller and low and behold, they were sold out everywhere. Despite my immediate panic, with lack of better options I ended up committing to the size ordered paired with a thick pair of wool socks for the trip( 6. 5ish miles each way, 2kish in elevation gain on the way up). I am delighted to report that despite feeling a bit roomy when I tried them on, the wool socks made the fit perfect. The trip up proved to be the most foot- comfy hike I 've ever had! My feet stayed entirely warm, which has never happened without Hot Hands in my socks in winter hikes for me. Beyond that, the boots were completely submerged in snow due to post- holing multiple times throughout the weekend, but my feet stayed 100% dry the entire trip. These paired well with my Kahtoola microspikes and Orvis snowshoes. All in all I 'm completely impressed and can not wait to hike more in these boots. If you have gear anxiety and are on the fence about ordering these( like I was), I highly encourage you to get off the fence and order! My initial impression is that this is the best boot purchase I could 've made.

I 've been researching hiking boots for several months and Asolo's products kept coming up over and over as the premier choice among experienced hikers. I was impressed by the loyalty of Asolo customers, and liked the look and reported performance of the Asolo Fugitive GTX Boot. Initially, I purchased the same size as my other boots, a 9 1/2. Upon the first test fit, I knew they were too small and returned the pair for a half size larger. The size 10 fit perfectly, but I will caution that these boots run a bit narrow( I do not have particularly large feet). Asolo thoughtfully offers `` wide '' sizes as well. I christened my new pair of Fugitives by taking a 33 mile trek on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina in early March. The trail had a good bit of snow, ice and mud. Temperatures during the three day trip ranged from 17 to 64 degrees( F), and included periods of rain and snow. The boots performed beautifully in terms of thermal and waterproof qualities. Also, these boots are very easy to put on, which is a plus when going for that 1am potty run in the cold. My only criticism of the design is that the insole is made of an extremely hard material. By day three, the balls of my feet were hurting pretty badly, and definitely detracted from the enjoyment of my trip. Adding an extra layer of socks helped marginally. I 've never experienced this problem before, so, upon arriving back home, I compared the insole to that in my older boots. Big difference; my older( HiTec) boots( which are falling apart after 15 years) have a much softer insole. I love the Asolo Fugitive GTX Boot, but will definitely add a gel insole prior to my next trip. These are, by far, the nicest( and most expensive) hiking boots I 've ever owned, and would definitely recommend them to others, but with the cautions regarding the sizing and insole material. I hope to add a couple thousand comfortable miles to these boots in the years to come.

I bought my second pair of these approximately a month ago. My last pair I used to backpack the Himalayas twice, Colorado, North Carolina and North Georgia. I also used them as my go to hunting boot as well. They 're heavy duty and it taken care of will last for years and years. I brought the leather back to life on mine using mink oil several times. It ’s hard enough for me to find shoes that fit( Size 17), but these not only had my size in stock, but they fit well on me right out of the box. Not too heavy, and the waterproofing has worked well so far in my three months of ownership. I would recommend sizing up if you have wider feet, but outside of that small issue the boots are a winner in my book.

They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I am an avid hiker and have always purchased salmon for their quality and comfort and this is probably the worst shoe I ’ ve ever purchased in all my years. They get so hot on my feet so fast and I can not leave them on for more than a 2- 3 hours with just regular socks. After only a month of wearing these the rubber notches on the bottoms of the shoe just started tearing off and now whenever there are rocks or sticks on the path the bottom of the shoe catches on those things because of the hanging notches so I trip so much. There is little to no ankle support and my shoe laces never ever stayed tied no matter how much I tie them. As a person who has always bought Salomon hiking boots I am extremely disappointed. I literally can ’ t even wear these. I have probably worn these less than 30 times since I bought them a year ago and am just using my old busted up Salomon ’s with holes in them and no tread on the bottom rather than these to hike. What a waste of money. Please do not buy.

[ I was finally happy to see a wide light weight hiker from Keen. For awhile most of their light weight hikers never came in wide, so this is very welcome. The shoe overall is well build with solid traction. They are sneaker comfortable out of the box but I do wish they had slightly more arch support. The lack of arch support was solved by using a Keen foot insert, the k- 10. Tons of room the toe box too.
