I 'll admit that I have always thought Altra shoes were not for me. Between the squared off toe box and the zero drop DNA; I just never gave them a chance. That all changed when they came out with the Experience collection and the move to a mid- drop ALTernative. What a beautiful shoe! I was very excited to give this one a opportunity as ince i needed a shoe for runnable trails along with dirt/gravel paths. Sizing for me was absolutely perfect, I ordered 10. 5 as always and hold and toe box spacing is excellent. I will have to play around with lacing tightness to figure out that best heel hold but that's the case with most shoes imo. The midsole is incredible and I 'm sure it will take on the abuse well, the bounce and propulsion is entirely new for me, I have never experienced something like this before. It would be a waste to use this for easy/slow runs since the rocker and midsole are clearly for running at faster paces.

Wow. These are awesome. I ran my last half marathon in the Pegasus trail, and I was less than impressed. I went to the Wildhorse but felt those needed more cushioning. When I started doing road races in the vaporfly, I was really hoping that Nike would do some sort of vaporfly hybrid shoe for trails and I feel like this is it! I took it right out of the box on a 7 mile adventure, with about 2k feet of vert in the first 2 miles and then a downhill 3 mile run on a fire road, before hitting 2 miles on pavement. They performed superb. They are ultralite( 6. 5oz in my size) and have a super wide toebox, which is unlike most Nike products. This means that you ’ re not gon na get any pressure on your toenails and they ’ re not hitting up against the front of the shoe. They ’ re super breathable and the carbon fiber plate definitely gives you a little propel forward. I ’ m so excited that Nike finally got a contract with Vibram because the soles are incredibly grippy. I don ’ t know how this shoe would do on super technical terrain, considering it is a race shoe, so it ’s meant to be fast and agile. But I don ’ t know if it would protect you from kicking a rock or hitting a rock with anything near your ankle. You ’ re definitely gon na feel that. I ’ m all in for taking this on my next race and super excited to see how I perform in this shoe. I love that there ’s no break in time with Nike ever and I ’ m really happy to see that they have stepped it up with their trail running shoes. We needed this!

I hope brooks co tinues to make this color, becauae I 've been going theough a pair about every six months now with all the miles I do before the nobbies wear off the bottoms and they lose a little cushioning and I have to get new ones. These run GREAT in the winter months on regular pavement. They keep traction through the snow and even walking on ice. They 're amazing and the traction is GREAT. Now that it's warmer they are great on fields, trails and pavemsnt. Still same great traction which makes me feel safe when there is dew on the ground and the fields are wet. I have mid- foot arthritis in both of my feet. I was advised by my doctor to wear carbon plate shoes. I bought a pair of both the Catamount 3& 4 shoes for daily all around wear. Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3- 4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3 day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised. Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear. Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

I have been running for 56 years. I have seen the development of all shoes from all brands. For me, the Timp 5 is one of the best shoes I have ever used. It just feels like running. Got these for a steal at Ross in Layton Utah for$ 48. A day later went on a 3. 5 mile hike into the canyons and wow I must say these are the best shoes ive worn yet. Super comfortable, durable, traction is superb. Didn ’ t slip once going up hill nor down. Not the best when wet and climbing some granite, almost ice slick. Overall very impressed, would buy full price if I end getting another pair.

Thick and bouncy soles, adequately wide toe box, good traction, great colorway. These will be for daily wear and occasional heavier activities. I usually wear 10. 5- 11, went with 11 and have room to comfortably wear thicker socks.

I ’ ve worn the catamount 2 and 3 for ultras( 100k and 100 miler) and Brooke ’s continues to get better with the 4! I love this shoe. It has the same durability as the previous versions, but more of a performance feel.

[ These shoes are probably the best pair of tennis shoes I ’ ve ever owned! Most shoes leave my feet feeling tired and achy after wearing them all day, but not these. They ’ re cushioned for comfort and the support they give is like no other. The toe box is nice and wide, leaving plenty of room so my feet don ’ t feel cramped. I feel very balanced and stabilized wearing them. You can tell quality work went into making them, all the way to the little details. The tongue is sewn in, so no sliding from side to side. Even the shoelaces have ridged edges to prevent them from untying. The sole tread is very “ beefy ” and are fantastic for walking on uneven or slippery surfaces. I ’ m already planning on getting another pair as soon as these wear out!

I have ran trail in this shoe and i also wear it in more formal settings for work. It definitely is so comfortable and the toe box is larger than a Clifton 9! It's a great shoe. North face has converted me. I really hope they do n't change the fit and design because I am going to purchase several pairs.

After many unsatisfying purchases and many returns, I have found the exact shoe I have been looking for, for use in long distance walking. It is very difficult to find a shoe that has lots of cushion* and* a more minimalist arch support( I have found that Hoka and even Altra just have too much arch support, which is uncomfortable if you have a flatter foot and/or do n't want or need arch support). The only thing I did n't like was the un- cushioned tongue, which was pressing a bit too much into my front ankle tendons. I solved this problem by using scissors to cut a small slit in each tongue to relieve that pressure( see photo). Now they are perfect! I will be buying these again.

With a more durable toe box material and full rubber sole, these are improved from a materials standpoint over the 14. The bright green looks great—quite like the photo, so no surprise there. Fit and feel is about the same as the 14—it ’s a mid+ cushion shoe, on the narrow- ish side of the market. It ’s got a buoyant feel, without being too bouncy or overly squishy. Runs nicely, but I ’ m not wowed by this shoe. I have a low volume foot, and running shoes generally feel a little sloppy on me. While a bit roomy in the toe, the peregrine allows me to lock in my heel and mid foot well enough that I have decent control, but they ’ re no La Sportiva, which fit like a glove. The Peregrine 15 are quite a bit more cushioned than most of La Sportiva, and I ’ m in a comfort stage of trail running, so I ’ m on my second pair.
