Learn More About Flash Face

Most new metalwoods can boast some type of groundbreaking technology promising more speed and distance, but with Flash Face, Callaway truly entered uncharted territory. More specifically, they used Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to create a driver face unlike anything ever seen before. These advanced computer systems developed 15,000 face designs, learning from each one, before arriving at Flash Face.

The most dramatic visual effect of this cutting-edge design process actually remains hidden on the reverse side of the club face.

"It has a non-intuitive set of thick and thin regions that don't follow any kind of regular pattern at all," says Dr. Alan Hocknell, Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Callaway. "This is what the computer came up with as a result of doing thousands and thousands of driver face designs, each one a little better than the last. This is now a highly optimized, ball-speed-generating component of Epic Flash. You'll be able to see a real enhancement in ball speed based on Flash Face Technology."

Epic Flash drivers and fairway woods will continue to include Jailbreak Technology. Jailbreak integrates two vertical bars behind the clubface to stiffen the crown and sole at impact. The result is greater impact-load and ultimately more ball speed.

More About Epic Flash Drivers

In addition to Flash Face and Jailbreak, the new Epic Flash drivers feature an upgraded triaxial carbon composite that allowed Callaway engineers to take weight from the crown and redistribute it in the head, providing more distance and accuracy on mis-hits.

Players will also benefit from Callaway's Adjustable Perimeter Weighting — a 16-gram sliding weight that gives golfers the ability to promote draws, fades or straighter flight.

Callaway will again offer a low-spin driver package with the Epic Flash Sub Zero, which will feature Adjustable Perimeter Weighting (APW) for the first time with 12 grams of adjustable weight compared to the 16 in the standard model.

"The Epic Flash Sub Zero driver is an extraordinary club," says Evan Gibbs, Director of Research & Development at Callaway. "Flash Face is a genuine ball speed innovation, and so is Jailbreak. Putting APW in a Sub Zero driver for the first time is a huge accomplishment. And it retains the rare combination of low spin and high MOI that have made our Sub Zero drivers so popular. We're confident that a lot of golfers are going to hit longer drives than they ever have before with this club."

More About Epic Flash Fairways

Just like the drivers, the new Epic Flash fairway woods offer unprecedented ball speed potential through Flash Face technology. In addition, Epic Flash fairways feature an improved OptiFit Hosel to give players more control over launch and ball flight. Epic Flash marks the first time Callaway has combined Jailbreak and adjustability in a fairway wood.

The Epic Flash fairway is also available in a Sub Zero model, which offers adjustable sole weighting to high swing-speed players in search of precision shot-shaping control.
