Back plates and rib protectors are lightweight, durable and designed to help absorb and disperse impact during gameplay.
Rib protection for football includes rib vests, combos and shirts. Rib protectors are made with cushioned foam padding that covers both your ribs and lower back. This padding is especially important for quarterbacks as their torsos are exposed when they drop back and pass the ball.
A rib protector is designed to help provide maximum protection for the torso, ribcage and lower back. Look for a rib protector that can be easily adjusted for a comfortable fit. Some styles feature removable rib pads, so just the back protection is utilized.
Football back plates are designed with foam padding that's enclosed in a plastic shell. A black plate can be an essential piece of equipment for players who are often tackled from behind, including wide receivers, running backs and defensive backs. A football back plate typically hangs from the back of the shoulder pads. Curved back plates are usually more comfortable than traditional flat back plates.
