A dependable headlamp is a must-have item for many camping adventures, hiking excursions and other activities that may require you to walk or work after dark. Keep the following points in mind as you explore the possibilities:

• A flood beam headlamp illuminates a wide area, allowing you to maintain awareness of your surroundings and keep track of objects on the ground. Flood style headlamps are a good choice for setting up camping tents, cleaning and other common campsite jobs.
• Spot beam headlamps provide a focused, high-intensity beam of light that illuminates a smaller area. These headlamps are popular for hiking, cycling and other activities that require a deeper field of vision in one direction.
