When you look the at new M5 and M6 drivers, the first thing you'll likely notice are the two red screws on the club face. These ports are the keys to TaylorMade's latest innovation: Speed Injected™ technology.
Each M5 and M6 driver head actually starts out beyond the legal limits for speed. TaylorMade then injects a proprietary resin into the ports on the face, which lowers the spring-like effect and brings the club back within legal range — but as close as possible to the limit.
"Utilizing a new manufacturing process, each head has been individually speed tested on multiple positions before being strategically injected with tuning resin to achieve the tightest possible tolerance to the legal limit of speed," explains Todd Beach, Senior Vice President of RD and Engineering at TaylorMade. "This optimized face combined with a more efficient inverse T-Track delivers a fast, forgiving and personalized driver that's designed to increase ball speed for every golfer."
The new TaylorMade drivers will continue to feature TwistFace® technology, a revolutionary face curvature introduced in last year's M3/M4 driver line. TwistFace helps to correct the two most common types of mis-hits: contact off the high toe and low heel. The face is strategically curved in these two areas to help reduce the sidespin that carries shots off target.
Hammerhead 2.0 technology also returns to TaylorMade's 2019 driver family. This flexible slot on the sole expands the sweet spot and preserves ball speed on off-center strikes.
In total, there are four driver types in the M5/M6 line:
