I am an avid hiker and have always purchased salmon for their quality and comfort and this is probably the worst shoe I ’ ve ever purchased in all my years. They get so hot on my feet so fast and I can not leave them on for more than a 2- 3 hours with just regular socks. After only a month of wearing these the rubber notches on the bottoms of the shoe just started tearing off and now whenever there are rocks or sticks on the path the bottom of the shoe catches on those things because of the hanging notches so I trip so much. There is little to no ankle support and my shoe laces never ever stayed tied no matter how much I tie them. As a person who has always bought Salomon hiking boots I am extremely disappointed. I literally can ’ t even wear these. I have probably worn these less than 30 times since I bought them a year ago and am just using my old busted up Salomon ’s with holes in them and no tread on the bottom rather than these to hike. What a waste of money. Please do not buy.

I began eyeing these boots( along with a few other pairs of Danners) when I really got into hiking this past year, but was hesitant to purchase as I 've seen a million reviews( on literally every hiking boot ever made) that talks about the break- in requirement and resulting blisters, foot pain, lost toenails and the likes. I committed to a winter hiking hut trip this past month and knew that I needed something waterproof and after window shopping( literally every boot tailored for women who love the great outdoors) kept coming back to these. After weeks of considering my options, I decided to take the plunge on these. I received my order about 10 days before the hut trip. The first day I trying them on they felt great, but the second day( when I intended to start wearing them every minute of every day to break them in pre- trip) I noticed that they felt quite roomy, despite having ordered exactly as the size chart indicated. I immediately began looking for a half size smaller and low and behold, they were sold out everywhere. Despite my immediate panic, with lack of better options I ended up committing to the size ordered paired with a thick pair of wool socks for the trip( 6. 5ish miles each way, 2kish in elevation gain on the way up). I am delighted to report that despite feeling a bit roomy when I tried them on, the wool socks made the fit perfect. The trip up proved to be the most foot- comfy hike I 've ever had! My feet stayed entirely warm, which has never happened without Hot Hands in my socks in winter hikes for me. Beyond that, the boots were completely submerged in snow due to post- holing multiple times throughout the weekend, but my feet stayed 100% dry the entire trip. These paired well with my Kahtoola microspikes and Orvis snowshoes. All in all I 'm completely impressed and can not wait to hike more in these boots. If you have gear anxiety and are on the fence about ordering these( like I was), I highly encourage you to get off the fence and order! My initial impression is that this is the best boot purchase I could 've made.

Took my Merrells from South Carolina to Wyoming on a road trip stopped in Chattanooga and went down into Ruby Falls inside the mountain walk to national park in St. Louis and just walked around downtown Cheyenne Wyoming on this trip. Keens are absolutely awesome! These are my 10th pair of Keen shoes. I have all different styles and they are all comfortable right from the start. There is no break in time for them. I got these boots just a few months ago and have already hiked over 100 miles in them and have had zero blisters or sore spots!( I am training for the Camino in Spain and these will definitely be my boots for the trip!). I have also been out in the rain with them a couple times, and along with my rain pants, my feet stayed dry. I intentionally splashed around in puddles like a little kid and my feet stayed completely dry and warm! My favorite feature of Keens is their wide toe box. While they make your feet look a little big, I do n't care. Being able to wiggle my toes and not have that tight fit is worth a million to me. And because they are a little wider than other boots, they are very stable. I 've never have my ankle break over when hiking on uneven or soft ground. I ca n't say enough about these boots. I highly recommend them and will be a loyal Keen customer for life! Keens do also run a tad small, so I always buy a half size up to allow for a good thick sock. I 'm usually a size 6 1/2, but I buy my Keens in a size 7.

[ I bought these because my old Keen boots finally lost their soles and because I wanted something just a bit lower and lighter. They ’ re sturdy, and they ’ re comfy right out of the box( no break in needed). If you have wide feet and/or bunions, these are worth a try! I will say that the heel may be a bit loose if your heel is narrow, but no issues so far for me. I ’ ve already taken them out for some cold weather backpacking and longer trail days, and they ’ re holding up well, no foot pain at the end of the day or anything.

[ This is probably my 5th or 6th pair of KEENs. The venting makes them a great choice for hikes when water won ’ t be an issue. They took me up a 2700 ’ mountain in the NH Whites right out of the box — no need at all for breaking in. I usually get a size 8 in KEENs but for some reason the 8 felt like I needed a little more room in the toe, especially for going downhill and for sweaty summer feet, so I sized up to 8. 5. Good choice. I love the ample toe box and reinforced rubber on the toe. Even my little bunion is happy.

I 've had these Leikis for a month now and still love them. I wanted something for urban dog walks that would keep my feet dry in rain and puddles but with enough traction to handle light trails. Perfect for shoulder- season weather when it's wet but not yet cold enough for heavier boots. They 're lightweight and cushy. At the store, I compared these to the Versacore. The Leiki is more snug around the heel and arch, but the toe box is still roomy. The Leiki toe box also has more structure and kept its shape, while the Versacore would crease and press against the top of my toes with each step which I found annoying. I liked the lower heel height of the Versacore, but ended up going with the cushier Leiki which seemed to also have more structure for ankle stability.

I truly enjoy dog walking, in the dewy morning, with dry feet. However, the toe box of these shoes seem tight, toes feel smashed. This shoe requires no breaking in. I actually forgot I was wear hiking boots as they ’ re as comfy as sneakers! I generally hate hiking shoes due to their weight and bulk, but definitely don ’ t have that problem with the sypes. The ankle support on this shoe is lower than your typical mid, but it actually works better for me.

[ These are sturdy enough for light hiking and lightweight enough that I wear them everywhere, all the time. The toe box is spacious enough to accommodate my weird feet, and the inserts and good enough that I do n't have to replace them with orthotic- wear type insoles. The color fades quickly, but who cares? I have a sort of weird gait, so I wear down the outside of the heel sooner than I would like, but that happens with all my shoes. I do n't think it's a durability fault, because most of the sole retains its tread.

Broke my pair in walking around the city and at work for a few days and then hiked in them and loved them! Got ta love Gore- Tex, was walking through streams like it was nothing! The grip left me feeling secure, even at spots that were a little rugged or slick. They even had me running for a bit, thought running downhill towards the end I noticed they were slightly big, so I ’ ll just wear thicker socks next time. Great deal!

I bought these for a recent trip to Banff, Canada and they were amazing. They arrived only a few days before the trip so I was worried I would have issues with breaking them in but no problems! We did an 11 mile hike the second day of wearing them and I only got one tiny blister( which let ’s be honest, probably would have happened anyway).
