Even though the brass rivets that hold the straps in place tarnished due to sweat due to constant use, Tilley gladly replaced them at no charge and told me how to clean the brass. It might have been nice if the strings were removable, in case you did n't want to wear them all the time, but I can just tuck them up inside the hat. I love this hat so much that in preparation for a Baja kayak trip, I bought a second just in case I lost the first one. I am an adult woman with a small head and fine hair.
