[ I love hats and after losing my Columbia wide- brim hat in Zurich( I blame the chocolate) back in 2023, I was relieved to see a replacement a couple weeks ago. Imagine my surprise to unbox such a stylish chapeau! Though its wider brim made me think of Paris in the spring, it was bought for adventures in South America. Mid- August, I leave for a month- long vacation to Brazil where this hat will protect me from tropical rays as I stroll the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro followed by 3 weeks in the Pantanal( jaguar safari!) and then an Amazon riverboat cruise. Packable, well- constructed with a must- have adjustable strap, it will literally top several quick- dry, multi- purpose, insect- shielded, Omni- Freeze Zero clothing from Columbia. In the meantime, I 've worn this hat for outdoor concerts and shopping at the Farmer's Market here at home in the Midwest. My head circumference is 21. 5 inches and the S/M is perfect. My head is too large for `` one- size '' hats, but my extra- large head AND my ponytail can fit inside the extra- large size of this. I also love the extra- wide brim, which easily keeps my entire head and neck in the shade during the brightest hours of the day. Large hats can act like a sail in windy conditions, but the adjustable chin and crown straps are super helpful to comfortably keep this hat on. I love that it folds in half and fits neatly inside a tote bag or hiking backpack, since my previous wide- brimmed hat was ruined by my unofficial folding/stashing methods. A+++ work!

My kids and I love our hats for a couple of reasons. First, they are so light that we do n't feel like we are even wearing a hat that gives great sun coverage, but we are! Second, my kids are able to get great sun coverage with comfort. In the past most of the hats they wore had brims in the back too. This would cause them to have to take the hats off when they sat in their cars seats, etc. Now they keep them on and they stay on because of the flat feature in the back of these hats! Great design! I 've been able to keep it on while hiking in the wind because of the chinstrap. It's water resistant. Plus it packs well. And most importantly, I like the colors- gray and pink.

Although this hat protects from the sun's harmful RAY 'S, it is not meant for really hot weather due to the felt lining( meant to keep your head warm). [ I go to the YMCA pool and met a nice couple that each had OR hats. I inquired about their hats. I liked what I heard so I purchased one for me and my husband. I love this hat I because it fits well, protects me from the sun and it is waterproof. I wear it when doing water exercise and when riding bike. I also purchased the Sombriolet sun hat which has a wider brim, vents and a chord to tighten to my head. I use both and I am very pleased because of the functionality and quality. PS I still use my baseball cap and visors.

I have been wearing the same Sunday Afternoons Cruiser hat for five years. During that time I wore it on all of my trips in the High Sierra and through all of my training on the coastal trails nearby. It has been to the top of Mt. Whitney twice, the John Muir Trail, the Sierra High Route, the Trans Catalina Trail, a traverse of the Great Western Divide, a winter traverse of the Glacier Divide and hundreds of miles of other mountain adventures. I made a hat cover and used it as a rain hat. It has been washed after every trip, soaked in creeks, streams and lakes and used as a sit- pad on the trail. Even after all of that it held up. and only recently did it finally start to show some wear. I was saddened to see a small tear in the mesh vent start to grow into a hole. I picked up a new hat while at a local shop before leaving for a long trip this summer. But it was n't a Sunday Afternoons hat. I thought it would be fine... just another sun hat. No big deal. I wo n't mention the brand but it did not work out well. Even though it appeared to have a similar adjustment system I could never get it to fit right. Plus, the brim was always loosing shape and eventually I realized the problem. It was n't a Sunday Afternoons hat! So I ordered another Cruiser hat and it just arrived today. Right out of the box it fits perfectly, and the brim holds its shape just right. It even looks like the brim is slightly larger but that's probably due to the possible shrinkage of my old hat after hundreds of washing cycles. Thank you Sunday Afternoons!

Been wearing this hat hiking in the desert for probably five years. Wo n't hit the trail without it. Wicks away sweat very well and is very cool. I have washed this hat literally dozens of times which is why it does n't seem to have the SPF factor it once had. been getting sunburned on my head lately.
