Return Policy Stinks

I got a wicked ice rod for Christmas, looks awesome. However I never used it, and notice when thread line through eyelets the Rod is broken the outer coating is peeling from the rod, which can only be seen when you bend it. Can't say this a bad product, because it could have been broken at the store. Contacted manufacturer, and they want me to spend the cost of the rod to ship it back. Just beware, return / exchange policy makes returning a defective rod not make sense. Its cheaper to go buy a new one, a different brand of coourse
