Works Great!

I bought this rod to fish catfish mainly but took a trip to Florida and wanted to do some surf fishing. I went with the 7ft med/hvy paired with an Okuma advenger ABF 8000 reel. It would out cast my 10ft meat Hunter all day long. Not to mention it’s a lot easier to deal with. I have a lot of ugly stik rods and love all of them.

Ugly Stick Big Water, A Tough Little Rod

I purchased the 7 foot Ugly Stick Big Water one piece rod to pair with my Daiwa BG 5000 reel. I wanted a set up to use for crab snaring along the CA coast. This weekend I loaded the reel with 50# braided and a 5 ounce weighted snare cage. The rod held up perfect. The ultimate test occurred when the current got my line wrapped around someones cage buoy line and I was able to maneuver the buoy and cage towards shore close enough to untangle. The Ugly Stick Big Water bowed but didn't break. That's not bad considering the cage itself probably weighs 20 pounds, but I was dragging it through the sandy bottom. I am an Ugly Stick believer.
