Rated 5 out of 5 by from ROUND REELS ARE ALL I USE I have been useing c3 c4 and record reels for over 30 years. They are great durable and depedable reels . Very well built and the best part for me is the line guide moving when you cast, you get better and longer casts and better line lay. They work great with either mono or braid. And the 4601 is a great crank bait reel the perfect gear ratio for crankbaits and slow rolling spinnerbaits. I use them for bass, pike, catfish , muskie and have never had a problem with them. I tried a revo sx and didn't like it at all its going on craigs list can cast just as far with my c3 4601 or my c4 4601 and 5601.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A classic, reliable workhorse I have three C3's -- one each of 4600, 5500 and 6500. These Swedish-made reels are very well made: all-metal frame, aluminum side plates, brass gears, aluminum spool, etc. The centrifugal brake makes casting easy (these new improved C3's feature an lighter aluminum line guide and lighter spool which improves casting performance over previous models). The retrieve is smooth, even under a load. The carbon matrix drag is second to none and has never failed me. In this age when many products seem to be disposable these reels are made to last -- with a bit of annual maintenance you could probably hand down a C3 to a grandchild. Really.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6501 C3 Excellent equipment I own 2 6501 C3's, I've had them since around 1998. I bought them when I got into musky fishing and other reels didnt cut it. I had a Shakespere bait cast reel that locked up within a week of using it and shimano that just didnt handle the torque that musky baits put on a reel and the brake consistency wasn't very dependable. So I spent the money on the C3's and they are still working fine today with only simple maintenence of cleaning and oiling. Whether I'm fishing a jerk bait or bucktail my C3's are always up to the task. I also do alot of night musky fishing and it's nice knowing I have a dependable reel in my hands Great reel. I love mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best gifts ever! When i digged into my gift bag, I was smiling from ear to ear upon pulling out the 5500 series reel. When I was finally able to get on the water and use it, I was highly satisfied with its feel and performance. I did have a few backlashes, but that was on my account due to my inexperience in baitcast reels. I was able to hook up some nice sized red and black drum on it, and the C3 handled them like a pro! The only downside, for me at least, is that I wish it had a clicker on it so I wouldn't have to be staring at the rod to see if it hooked up on something. All in all this is my first ABU product and certainly won't be the last!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent reel! I bought two of these reels a couple of months ago. I love them. They are smooth casting. It will cast as far as I can throw it. The retrieve is so smooth. It's not heavy, feels very solid and durable. You can put a ton of line on it. This is my first reel with a bait clicker. I never knew how much I would really like that part of it. I will be buying two more in the near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6500 C3 Hands down the best reel I have used for Musky Fishing When I learned how to fish for the elusive esox (Musky), one of the first things I was taught, is that I needed to have quality equipment if I expect to land any fish. The combo I was recommended was a St Croix MH(Medium Heavy) rod, with an Abu Garcia 5500 Reel for its smooth casting ability to assist in launching and landing a lure precisely where I want it. And this combination allowed me to do just that. Since my early days, I have chosen to upgrade my equipment to a St Croix MH rod, with my new favorite reel, the Ambassador 6500 C3.. I have had this reel for about 15 years now, and will never choose another reel.Abu has proved itself to me time and again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tough reel to haul in the big ones! I"ve had this 6500 for around 15 years, has never let me down. ITs old but still functions quite well. My only real issue is that when the drag is tightened down all the way, sometimes on real hard hooksets it still slips just a little. Otherwise no issues, still casts smoothly, smooth and steady retrieve. Had it for a lot of years and still going strong. Hoping it will be around to give to my son.
