As a longtime fan of the Gel Resolution 9, I loved its comfort, perfect fit, and affordability. However, the Gel Resolution X is a major letdown and, in my opinion, a significant downgrade. The fit is completely different—wide in the midfoot, loose at the toes, and with overly high ankle support that feels restrictive and risky for tennis. I nearly twisted my ankle multiple times due to this design. The sole feels more slippery, and the added rubber component causes discomfort without any clear purpose. Why, Asics, did you discontinue the Gel Resolution 9 for this inferior model? I urge you to bring back the Gel Resolution 9 to show you value your loyal customers. Until then, I’m reluctantly switching brands after years of trusting Asics. Please reconsider this misstep.

I have been wearing gel resolution tennis shoes for around 10 years (version 6, 7, 8 and 9 of the shoe). As a high performance player, I needed the durability and didn't find them too bulky. THIS SHOE SUCKS. 1. Inside ankle support is too high and rubs. 2. They got rid of the extra lacing hole towards the rear of the shoe so my heel slips out (so much for dynawall customization) 3. The mid part of the shoe is too wide - the interior and also the sole Hopefully Asics can revert these changes in the next version asap and go back to what has always been popular and successful.

I started wearing Gel Resolution shoes at generation 8, and then onto generation 9. Loved them! This generation X model is great, too. Why I didn't give it 5 out of 5 is because 1) the new lacing system is too tight. It was literally cutting off my circulation. I had to rearrange the laces over the support system to loosen them up. Now it's comfortable, yet still secure. 2) the shoe is a tad heavier than Gen 9. Gen 9 had plenty of stability/support/cushioning. Gen X didn't need anything extra, making them heavier. That aside, it definitely warrants a 4 out of 5. The shoe has great traction, is very durable, and is extremely secure. I highly recommend it!
