A Family Affair!

Last year, my daughter purchased a weekender and a carry on for me. This year, I purchased a weekender for my husband. The color and monogram were exactly as he had requested. P.S. The carry on works fabulous maneuvering through an airport!

So Very Soft But Very Durable!

this bag holds enough for a weekend trip for someone like me who needs at least an extra outfit in case i change my mind !

Ok the back strap to hold onto a case could be bigger rather flimsy as its just a thin strap so slides around. Does not sit top of case very well.

Another Fabulous Travel Bag

Another great travel bag from Away! I initially purchased the Featherlight Overnight Bag. After enjoying it on a recent vacation, I decided that I needed the weekender. The bag is so lightweight but very spacious. I really love the shoe department on the bottom.

Really Wanted To Love It

I bought this bag specifically for an extended international trip so I could pack my bigger carry-on and put overflow items in the weekender (without checking anything). The space is excellent, great pockets and fits under plane seat in front of you on some airlines depending on how full it is. Unfortunately, this material gets dirty easily. Yes it’s washable but you will have a very dirty bag your whole trip until you get home to wash it. The worst part however is that the strap that holds your bag on your suitcase handle is too loose (or maybe it stretched?) because the weekender flipped off of the suitcase handle multiple times while walking. I thought this bag was going to be my perfect travel companion for the bigger carry-on but not sure it will be my go-to.

Design Flaw

I love a lot about this bag. It’s amazingly lightweight when empty and has tons of pockets. These are the reasons I selected it over other options on the market. The straps are also very comfortable, both the long one as well as the shorter straps that normally would be considered less comfy have a decent drop. The major flaw with this bag is the strap that attaches it to the suitcase. It’s both too thin and poorly placed so that the bag doesn’t balance well when sitting on top of a suitcase. When moving through a busy airport or train station and getting on and off transit quickly, I found it frustrating to constantly be checking to make sure it was staying upright and secure. I was traveling with a friend who had a similar weekender bag from a competing (but less expensive) brand whose suitcase attachment strap was an entire panel of fabric, which proved to be much stronger. I wanted to stay within the Away family since I already had an Away suitcase but sort of wished I had gone in a different direction.

Great For Long Trips

I love the size and functionality of the bag, except for a couple things. I wish there were interior pockets, other than the padded sleeve for electronics. I also wish the sleeve to attach the bag to a rolling bag was more substantial. I have another Away weekend bag with a sleeve that is about 8" high instead of just 2" that will hold up better over time.

30+ year traveler

Problem Solved!

Needed to find a way to pack for a 13 day overseas trip and cruise while staying in carry on mode only By combining the Weekender with the small carry on Away, problem solved. The Weekender will serve as the extra shoe packing place, toiletries, electronics, and change of clothes in packing cubes. With plenty of room a sweater & jacket for plane. Great combo way to avoid checked bag problems for a tight schedule.
