I Hate Backpacks, But This One Is Built Different.

I hate backpacks! But on trips where we don't have a car, I realized it would be more comfortable and practical to have a backpack rather than a weekender bag on top of my luggage. It becomes too heavy quickly when you have to walk around to get to your destination. I spent months searching for a good backpack to alleviate the weight when walking around, that fits under the plane seat, and that doesn't have a sporty look. As I mentioned above, I dislike regular backpacks as the items I need are always at the bottom, and I don't like to pile up things. But this one packs flat and is made like a suitcase, it was a revelation when I saw it! And I am glad I bought it. Very versatile. The front is stylish with a satin finish, and has many pockets. The small items I need at the airport and on the plane can be grabbed and found easily. One detail that could be improved: the backpack straps to adjust the length don't stay where you put them, they often extend so you have to readjust. I will put pins to block them.

Buy At Your Own Risk

I would not recommend buying this product. I spent weeks looking for the right bag to fit my needs. While at first glance I thought this was it, I was mistaken. Within just a few uses the mesh netting for the water bottle holder got a small tear. I reached out for support from Away, and was met with a firm "Not our problem." The stated that this was NOT covered under their warranty policy because it was "cosmetic" and not "functional." If you want a bag that holds your water bottle, this bag won't do that. The fact that this happened within just a few uses of a normal sized water bottle means this bag won't fit your needs. Worse than that, however, is the lack of care Away provided. If you buy this bag and anything happens, Away will tell you that you are SOL. Buy at your own risk. For a price tag this high, there must certainly be better options.

Only thing missing is a shoulder sleeve for the shoulder strap as it can be a bit uncomfortable if bag is loaded. Before buying this bag I made sure to compare with other travel brands. This backpack definitely has a lot to offer. The multiple strap options the water bottle pocket are all the best parts of the bag. Unfortunately I feel with how much the bag is certain quality standards fell short for me. I used the bag for less than a month on a recent trip and one of the small zippered compartments that is perfect for passports and cellphones had quality issues. My zip broke off within just two weeks. I don't overstuff my bag since I do travel with a carry on as well. I feel this bag has a lot to offer and I'm hoping my situation was just a random fluke accident. Needless to say think about before purchasing becuase it is on the expensive side and zippers should not be coming off.

Keeps Travel Simple

Recently used this bag for a long-weekend getaway. It was the perfect size for me, was able to bring the items I wanted for the plane (book, snacks) all in the front pocket and my clothes & other things (4 days worth, packing light) in the main compartment. Plus, as full as it was, the bag still fit under the seat in front of me on the plane so I did not have to deal with the overhead bins. The dark green color is also really nice.
