Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Accurate Right away I was impressed with the accuracy of this crossbow, probably shot it 50 times before I went hunting and out to 40 yards it never ceased to amaze me. I did have to go through and tighten some of the fasteners but I only had to do it once and they have stayed tight. Quiver could be a little tighter when installed but hasn't caused me any issues. I wasn't impressed with the scope the first time I saw it but it really does work well. Killed a buck at 25 yds with it yesterday, excellent bow for the money! Spend $800 - $1000 on a crossbow if you want, it will impress your friends but the extra money won't make them any more dead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Barnett Recruit recurve crossbow & Employees I am a 70yr old disabled vet, with arthritis and the good things you get when you get This crossbow is great, I can cock it with the rope cocker, The scope is very clear and right on target. 40 yards is no problem and is accurate. This is a light weight unit, which would make ideal form them "LADY'S""!!!Importantly the employees working this dept, are terrific and very polite, It makes for a wonderful shopping experience . They put the unit together for me, sighted it in for me. Then we went into the range to shoot it, It was right on the money, It is short, light, weight, and a comfort to shoot. Excellent price as well!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the Job Done! I've been hunting a long time but only deer gun/muzzleloader. Last couple weeks I've been sitting in my blind for fall turkey and game watching deer and I just got tired of waiting for gun season - went to F&S and got my first bow. I've never shot one in my life; this was noon on Friday, four hours later I harvested a nice doe with this crossbow. I zeroed it in on my way to the blind in just a few shots and target tip. sat in my blind and half hour later I got one at around 20yds out. Great buy for a ready to rock c/b. can't beat it, on sale 129.99 plus a tag, you're ready to hunt! Too easy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective beginner Xbow I bought this for my son on his 12th birthday. We sighted it in that night and hunted the following morning. A group of does came in a few minutes after legal shoot time and one was on the ground a few minutes later. It may not going to get one out at 50 yards but I'd be confident taking a shot out to 30yds. Used carbon express pile drivers that day which are heavy but it may extend range to use a lighter bolt. He and I are both happy with the purchase especially at the sale price of $135.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice build, solid with options Great entry level crossbow to see if you are wanting to invest more money in the sport or hobby. Accurate once sighted. Proper pull back ensured a group of 3 bolts within a 2 inch circle at 75 feet. We will test this at further distances with more time but for now 40 and 70 were used. With the bolts we had one was wrecked during shooting and I shot it down our property and it went about 1/8 mile total. Overall this is a fun little crossbow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it on sale! I recently purchased this Barnett on sale, just to try out a X-bow. I have been a bow hunter for years and I have to admit, this thing is crazy fun to shoot and play around shooting at targets. It is incredibly actuate at 20-30 yrds once sighted in, which took about 20-30 min. Now, I personally would not go hunting with this model of X-bow, it is pretty load compared to my bow. But, at 20-30 yards you certainly could, it shot straight through my archery bag target at 20 yrds. For the sale price, I'm really impressed with the quality and overall fun factory of this model and the Barnett band. Worth every dime on sale!! I'm now looking for a nicer more powerful Barnett X-bow for hunting, I'm hooked!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This crossbow is a winner My wife bought me this Barnett for Christmas. I love the anti-dryfire safety. Most crossbows at this price range do not include it. I sighted it in the day after Christmas. The 4x32 scope is great. Easy to sight in after a few shots (about 15). I took it to the woods this weekend and shot 2 hogs (1 was 25 yards and the other was 32 yards) over 150lbs each with 2 full pass throughs. Neither of them ran more than 40yards. I am very impressed and very happy. I can't wait to take it deer hunting. I will be buying my pops one with the hand crank for fathers day!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a toy--real deal Bought for ~$135 on sale; arrived in 5 days--all parts and in good shape, though bow had a ding in it, but not issue. At least it wasn't a store-return they were trying to get rid of. Great thing is you can return internet sales directly to Dick's store. You'll also need arrows (not included) 5/$30, generic rope cocker ($25; silly and backbreaker to try to cock bow by hand; simple process, but ask for demonstration at store (or YouTube))--and I bought a crossbow sling--so total, $200+. Barnett's 6-min assembly video on YouTube confusing, tho useful for basic familiarity--manual is clear with good figures. Bow "floats" on stock, held firmly (but not immovably) in place by "pressure pad." After assembling (allan wrenches provided, but not all sizes required, including the wrench that loosens screws to adjust butt plate--I had it), I mounted 4X Barnett scope provided, fired at 10 yds; windage perfect, elevation 4 inches high. Fired at 20 yds into bull; never adjusted windage/elevation. Impressive. 5 tightly-packed horizontal reticles for various distances--1st reticle shots flat to 20 yds; 2nd reticle dropped right in at 30 yds.; haven't ranged others. (Rangefinder is big help sighting). Bow is as fast as my Golden Eagle compound; bit noisy, but so is $1000 crossbow I tested. And if I had $1000, I'd buy the semi-auto shotgun I've been wanting. Recruit is not a toy, and in the right hands, no doubt deadly for deer to 30-35 yards (use Rage/comparable 100 gr expanding broadhead)...crossbows can impart false sense of you're shooting a rifle...might be hole-poker at further distances with energy and accuracy loss, but can't say yet. Will know after ranging.
