Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value As far as value goes, you really can't beat these rods for salmon fishing. I fish the 10'6'' heavy models for trolling with downriggers, lead, and divers for chinook. They have a great feel to them, with plenty of backbone to turn a hot fish but enough give to make them very forgiving near the boat. I can't stand the carbon fiber grips that come on most of the high-end salmon rods anymore, and I find that the foam grips on these rods are considerably more comfortable and also adequately durable. Finally, the guide spacing and quantity of guides was well thought out, and the fact that they use double-footed guides up the entire blank is a huge plus, considering all of the other popular salmon rods now use single foot guides in the tip section. Finally, the reel seats are sized properly to accept the foot on all of the popular salmon reels comfortably, unlike some of the other salmon rods on the market that barely fit. Great design, great features, and very affordable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rod seat broke on the first Coho I bought this Rod 3 days ago with the Okuma cold water reel to finish off the Pacific Coho season and the rod seat broke on the first fish. I managed to land the fish but it wasn't easy. Going to try one more because I like the comfort and action of the rod. We will see if I should have bought the lamiglas.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value for the buck salmon rods. I have two of these now, but only one trip so far on the 7'9" model and 10 1/2 foot XXH. The 7' 9" model is an extra fast action back bouncer that would serve pretty well for trolling spinners and OK for herring and maybe hover fishing. It handles heavy sinkers with ease, 16 ounces, It is likely a good kayak rod for heavier applications such as salmon and sturgeon. The 10 1/2 foot XXH is just that heavy and I'm not talking about the action. This rod weighs allot and feels really tip heavy even with no weight or reel attached. I am using this rod with a Penn warfare 15 reel. The combo is a bit ungainly for getting it into and out of rod holders, attach 16 ounces of sinker and you have to be real careful you don't drop it over the side of the boat. Basically children and smaller people will struggle using it. On the up side the action is tuned for the NW salmon fishery with a medium to slow action and the ability to handle the weights used in some of the NW tidewater fisheries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Held up to a seal I bought this rod a couple of weeks ago for trolling for chinook. I've caught several fish with it and this last weekend I got into a 20 minute tug-a-war with a 300 lb. seal and won. I was sure my rod would break but it held together and did a great job. I will buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rod! I am a captain with a charter business and have found the new Buzz Ramsey rods to be exactly what I was looking for. From salmon to stripers I have found the right rod with the right action. I love the new updated modernized features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rod with backbone & still sensitivity! Did I say sensitivity? With a solid trolling rod? Yes, & yes. I've had this rod for just a few weeks. Last night while fishing a river bottom from a boat, sturgin set-up with barbless hook, the rod's sensitivity enabled a hookup with a 12.2 lb channel cat. (Up till then, I had been landing smaller brown bullheads.) And what a fight! 50 lb braided line translated straight to the rod. Earlier, the rod seemingly amplified the fish's nibbles from the deep (100 ft out; 55 ft depth); yet, it still lent enough backbone to muscle the channel cat to the surface. And through the lengthy fight, the rod even relayed the back-fin/tail whacks against the line (note, I am speculating as to some of the twanging vibrations that I felt during and on top of the large cat's dives and dart-aways). Than you for this well designed, and now my prize rod. Your new fan, and happy, NW fishermen. P.s., based on this local river experience, I am certain that the rod's salmon performance will similarly please. [Note to editor, I will follow-up with a picture that you can link together on you end.]
