After several trips fishing for bluegill we have found these baits almost useless for us. They are small and very soft. Most of them will not stay on a hook. We have been using them on jigs with size 6 and size 8 hooks so the hooks are not very large. We have tried letting them dry slightly so that them become tougher and this works only for a couple of casts. Possibly they would work better fished under a float making very limited casts per bait.

Love these Berkley Gulp! Maggots. Always have them in the bag. Easy mode to turn a skunk day into some easy pan fish bites. Wont spoil, wont gross out the sensitive kids, durable on the hook (use small J-hooks). Haven’t tried them for crappie yet but on a 1/32 or 1/16 jig, I bet they’ll slay.

For bluegills this is one of the better baits, it’s bio-degradable, non-perishable, has a great container, and easy to use. On top of that the bluegills in my area love it. I put this on a size 10 hook under a slip bobber and can catch a bluegill every two minutes. The only complaint I have is some maggots are curled up too much, but they can still be used. These do not come off too easy, out of 25 fish caught, only 2 baits were stolen.

First time using these and quite impressed. I wasn’t able to find any live bait so I grabbed these and I caught fish!!! 2 gills and a really big catfish.
Very good fishing bait. I have only had a chance to use it once but I caught a few fish.
