The Distance 8 is an incredible hybrid day pack / running vest. It can be filled with a day's worth of layers, snacks, and water, then compressed down into a form-fitting running vest. The pockets are well thought-out and the main compartment is pretty close to waterproof, making it a great pack even for snowy alpine ascents or scrambles. The 2nd generation fixed the main issue with the 1st, the water bottle size, and it now holds standard, "long" 500mL bottles. The vest compression system is better now as well, if slightly less adjustable. This is the perfect pack for long, fast days. The 8L capacity is ideal for a single day in the alpine.

The 8-liter capacity is enough for me to do trail running for over 100 kilometers. The material is high-quality, making it comfortable to wear.

Great fast running pack! Surprised how well my iPhone 15 pro max fits in the zippered mesh too. Paired it with the 500ml soft flask 👌🏻

My old first-gen Distance 8 is finally wearing out after thousands of miles, hundreds of mountains, 100k PRs, snow and rain, gallons of sweat and pounds of salt, who knows what else. This iteration of the Distance 8 is like an old friend with a few useful refinements. So comfortable I grab it even for a basic 30 minute outing if I want to go hands-free with water or phone, but also absolutely reliable for the biggest adventures.

This is an upgrade over my previous vest from a different retailer. Big roomy pockets on the front for flasks with elastic loops that go over the lid to prevent it from sinking down in the sleeve over time. I love the zippered pocket on the left for my phone and the mesh pockets on either side for snacks. The bag has an easy top cinch at the top and is super roomy for the other essentials and then some. There is probably enough space in the pack itself for an emergency overnight. The fit is luxuriously comfortable, feels secure with very little bouncing and jostling. The only aspect of the pack I haven't used is the pole sleeves on either side of the pack or the elastic loops for lashing poles to the outside. They seem like they would work very well with the distance z poles, but not my old school backpacking poles. Really though, this is a great buy, I am extremely satisfied with the fit, feel, and quality of the running pack.

Bought this mostly for running events, and specifically for the pole storage. Overall, it's a solid vest and I'll be happy using it. The frontside pockets are large and well placed, the build quality is good, and the feature set is good. Things that could be improved: getting the poles back in their sleeves on the move is quite tricky. There is no fit adjustment anywhere, and it rides kinda low on my back. C'est la vie.

Love this thing light and compact. Great for anywhere from trail runs to day peak hunting. Wish I had found it sooner…..

For all to long I ran with a hip pack or a backpack not designed for running. I was tired of all the flopping around and hot spots they created. I purchased the Distance 8 and couldn't be happier. It hugs my body, doesn't flop around and has pockets in all the right places. If your on the fence, take the leap and get yourself a Distance 8!

I bought this 8L pack to do Grand Canyon R2R2R and it seems like it should be perfect. More space than I expected, quality is excellent, looks cool too.

Great for mountain biking too! I got this primarily for long all-day mountain bike rides where I need extra layers and solid food. Obviously it's also great for when I'm on foot! Overall, I'm just happy it stays put on my upper back, doesn't feel like anything is there, and has ample storage on the front so I don't have to take the pack off very much while riding/hiking/running.

The pack arrived quickly and I looked over the pack to make sure it was what I expected. Stitching is perfect, no hanging threads, everything is symmetrical. The materials are blended to meet my expectations of toughness and comfort. Fit is great, the pack stays put and with the setup to cinch everything down it doesn’t bounce when running, hiking, or biking. It has enough space for daily essentials (food, water, light insulation or wind jacket, and a small first aid kit).

The perfect bag, so well made and comfortable! Happy I have one! Go get one, you'll love it too. Trust me!

I have never had a pack fit so well so easily. No chaffing, easy to snatch down so load doesn’t shift etc. If I lost this pack tomorrow I would buy another one.
