First Time User

I've been running trails now for the past several years, as it's much easier on my body in general nowadays. I live in a mountainous, hilly area and have never used trekking poles before until I recently signed up to run/hike an event next year where they might come in handy. After some research, I bought a pair of the Black Diamond Distance FLZ Trekking/Running Poles. I've used them a few times already and I am quite pleased. Being new to the concept, they were easy to use right out of the box. They expand and break-down easily and are quite compatible with my hydro pack. They seem to be solid so far as I trek up any hills I encounter, which usually consist of dirt, sand, and a lot of rocks. They are a great help as I climb, taking a lot of stress off my legs. I look forward to testing them out on some steeper declines. I'm still working on how to best stow and retrieve them from my pack while I am hiking/running (learning curve). I have already recommended this brand/product to a co-worker who will be running the event with me. I highly recommend these poles to anyone getting into the concept of using them and look forward to using mine more in continued training.

You Deserve These Poles

I love these poles. Super light and easy to pack, but also really durable. Sorry to my tried and true Yeti poles, you are now my loaner pair.

Great Poles, Worked As Expected

Trialed these on a trail run recently, and loved them. Nothing crazy (16km, +4200 ft), but some decently technical terrain at parts. Super easy to set up and collapse, and the wrist straps were super comfy.

From Snapped Carbon To Solid Aluminum

After snapping a pair of the carbon version (my fault, not theirs), I switched to the aluminum Black Diamond Distance FLZ Trekking Poles and haven’t looked back. Yes, they’re a bit heavier, but the durability is worth it. The collapse mechanism is quick, the grips are comfortable, and the poles feel planted on rocky scrambles and muddy climbs. I saw a few reviews saying the flip lock can pop off—hasn’t happened to me. Mine have stayed secure and consistent mile after mile. Overall, rock-solid poles I actually trust to finish the hike with me.

Great Poles

This is my second pair of these poles. I used my last pair for about 10 years. They are sturdy, light, and fold up small which works great for travel.
