Very Handy To Have As I Have 3 Of Them

I use this item to secure my backpacks to hang them up by their handles. Very handy to have and convenient to use. Also great to use on storage racks at home and keep them off of the floor!

Good Light Locker

This is a good locker for general use. Not too big, light enough, and the gate action is smooth.

Good Do-it-all Locker

I got one of these very early on and have been climbing on it for 3-4 years now. I like how these carabiners feel in my hand and the chunky screwgate is super easy to open and close (even one handed, at night, mid-epic, with cold hands). I really like how textured the screwgate is, other models are much smoother but this one has a ton of friction. The gate doesn't open as wide as other lockers on my harness and the chunky, textured gate can catch but it doesn't make it that much harder. The HotForge is one of the most asymmetrical D carabiners and, as you might expect, it can get crossloaded a lot easier than less offset D's. It's not substantially more but I am a lot more careful when setting up anchors and belay devices with this carabiner. I also really appreciate how BD put more metal in the highest wear-and-tear points and to give the rope a better angle. These carabiners are reasonably durable (the paint on the knurled screwgate is definitely coming off though) and stand up to a decent amount of use. Overall, this carabiner will do it all in a nice neat package. BD added a lot of great detail but the design could be improved.

Does The Job

Works for anything small that you are hoping to hold you up

Does The Job - No Complaints!

I trust black diamond with my climbing safety between this carabiner, to the solution harness, and the ATC. Picked them all up in a batch and can't say I have any doubts after putting them to work. Will be coming back for more when needed.

Use This For Literally Everything

Great for climbing, but also just attaching random stuff to random things. Easy to use and durable. I've never taken it outdoors before, but works great for indoor top rope and lead climbing.

Perfection.

Lightweight, strong, easy to use. This is the one to add to your set.

Gets The Job Done

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I dont regret buying this, Its super handy to have on my harness for a-lot of extra needs. I personally use it for my prusik, but of course it’s compatible with other items. I dont recommend you use it for belay devices due to its size, shape, and some other factors.

She Does Everything She Needs Too

she does everything she needs too! I like to clip my extra slings & what not into this. originally got this for my belay device before i learned that it’s not a super solid biner to run rope through, but at the end of the day it does everything it needs too :).

If you’re looking for a manual screw gate, this carabiner has you covered. The marking for “closed” versus “open” is clear & visible. I don’t have any issues with getting the screw gate to begin rotating. I typically use these carabiners as part of my quad anchor. If you’re looking for something that’ll do the job & be budget-friendly, the hot forge is a good item to add to your gear.

It’s Okay

I’ve owned several Positron Carabiners and figured I should update and grabbed a few Hot Forge to replace them. The hot forges are significantly smaller which has its pros and cons. It’s very compact on my harness and is great to rack gear with. On the flip side it’s a pain to use for a double rope rappel, it’s tough to get the locker open with two strands of rope running through it. Additionally, I’ve only owned the hot forge for a few months and have maybe rappelled 10 pitches and I already have a noticeable groove. I have positrons I’ve rappelled over 50 pitches with that still don’t have grooves so not too thrilled with that

Great Gift

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought as a gift for an avid rock climber. it was EXACTLY what they needed and use on a regular basis.

Great Locking Biner

Super light and strong, easy to use without looking at it. Great price.

Great Carabiner

Great quality for a locker on the lower end of the price range. Never had a problem with these and I trust them on every climb.

Comfortable Light Biner For Belaying

I used this carabiner for the first time last night with my ATC-XP for belaying at the local gym. It was really nice having a really lightweight carabiner with an already light belay system. Overall, it was a little odd at first to have something so light, but I got used to it fast and found it really comfortable.
