About This Item

With enough comfort to climb WI5, enough warmth to belay and enough dexterity to tie knots in cold temps, the Black Diamond Punisher is our go-to glove for long days, hard climbing and variable conditions. With 100-gram PrimaLoft Gold insulation on the back of the hand and 190-gram fixed fleece lining, the Punisher is our midweight winter climbing glove. The TPU knuckle patch protects against abrasion and an ice tool specific, pre-curved fit provides a secure grip. Our innovative "seamless pinky" construction, where we've removed the seam on the pommel side of the pinky, increases the level of comfort when hanging on your tool. A waterproof BD.dry™ insert protects against wet ice while the leather palm patch and suede nose wipe add grip and comfort. The Punisher's Pertex Shield rip-stop shell is durable while the 4-way stretch shell at the fingers make for a dexterous, supple feel while climbing.

Awesome Gloves But Small.

Gloves fit small in my opinion. I have large hands but can barely get the XL glove on. BD needs a XXL option.

This Punisher Is Very Different From The Old Punisher

4 years ago I primarily climbed in BD terminators, and used my BD punishers of that era for belays or super cold days. Now this Punisher is much lighter and less insulated than the old Punisher and seems more akin to me to the old Terminator of 4 years ago. Thats fine, I can make this my new main glove. BUT it does fit differently! BD's size chart says I'm a small, and i can use it but just barely in a small, a medium fits my hand much better (despite what sizing chart says), so going to exchange my small for a medium. Thus, I haven't climbed in it yet, but it looks well constructed, with extra material on palm, and a second later in the thumb index groove where gloves take a beating from ice tools. I also think the new longer cuff, and more robust velcro strap closure seem big improvements from the old Punishers and old Terminators. Its just that the relabelling threw me off, as I didn't realize I would need to replace my old Terminators, with the new very similar in weight Punishers.

Move From Mittens

I have used the gloves for snowshoeing in temperature ranges from 5 to 15 degrees and my hands were warm throughout. The snug wrist does I believe lead to a bit of moisture buildup but they dry quickly. Better mobility than the mittens and no loss of comfort.

Poor Fit.

I have rather thin fingers and the glove fingers are so narrow that they block blood circulation and i get cold fingers immediatly. I used a lot of diffèrent pairs of gloves including the old punisher. Those one are the worst. Totally useless for iceclimbing or even biking in cold temps.
