A single, lightweight piolet-specific version of our popular Spinner Leash, the Black Diamond Slinger Leash is a stretchy tethering system for keeping your piolet attached without a wrist leash. We've upgraded the leash with a locking carabiner for added security when clipped to your axe's head or spike, we've added extension to the elastic webbing, and we've updated the webbing to polyester which absorbs less water than standard nylon

I Like The Fact These

I like the fact these have a screw gate as I've occasionally had others pop off ice tools in the past. They are sturdy and work just as intended!

Surprisingly Flexible

I use these not only for my ice tools but as leash for other back country accessories that I need to keep close. Excellent quality. Only minor criticism is that they are a bit bulky to attached to smaller things like an ivy beacon.

Great Except For Junk Carabiner

I typically swear by BD products. I recently bought this slinger leash for alpine use. After using it for the first time, I noticed that the gate was out of whack. I’m usually pretty disciplined about screwing gates closed so I find it hard to imagine that I wouldn’t have in this case. When attempting to fix it, the little metal gate spring piece popped out and now I have a rattly, non-spring loaded carabiner. All in all not the end of the world as this isn’t being used as life safety gear, but was very disappointing given the quality I come to expect from BD hardware. There’s also a “2 kn” rating on this which given my experience I wouldn’t trust one bit.

This leash is a great addition to my climbing equipment. Love that it clips on to my ice ax, rather than ties on. Saves a lot of worry. Also like that it’s stretchy and I do not have to worry about getting caught up in a slack leash.
