Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save up for a better one This detector is not precise at all and gives inconsistent readings. I thought this would. E a step up from my 10 year old Pioneer 101. I was wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfaction guaranteed! We purchased the metal detector for our son at Christmas. We used it for the first time this weekend and the whole family had a blast. It is easy to use and very accurate. We are already planning on bringing it with us on vacation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a piece of junk I bought this for my son for Christmas he really wanted a metal detector it was on “sale” for $99.99. The battery tabs that the 9 volts connect to don’t make contact very well so you have to pry them back so they make contact with the batteries but it doesn’t last long before you have to do it again. It’s either that or apply constant pressure to the battery cover. Ridiculous. I got a rebate for the jr version when I bought this so the receipt and upc were mailed in for that so I can’t even return it. I’m hoping the jr version actually works the way it’s supposed to. Spend the money on a better brand

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent detector Bought this a couple months ago. I used to detect with my grandfather and always enjoyed it. This unit is a decent entry-level machine; however, don't expect to be finding gold and silver all the time. Finding good stuff takes a lot of effort and patience; you have to be willing to sort through lots of junk. I find that the discrimination on this detector is pretty good--it tells you if you are hitting on iron, mid-range (bronze, aluminum, brass, etc.) or silver/copper. As with pretty much all detectors, gold items ring out as mid-range, so sometimes it can be worth it to dig a so-so signal. There is definitely a learning period to recognizing the tones and sound patterns; different metals and metals alloyed with others will sometimes give a mix of signals, so if you read a review that basically says "this unit is junk because all I ever found was trash" or "a pull tab rings like a coin" you can be sure you're dealing with an impatient metal detectorist. My nicest find so far with my 1100 is a 2-cent piece from 1864. My only complaint about the unit is that I had to stuff small pieces of plastic under the batteries to assure proper contact with the terminals; before I did this even the slightest jolt would cause the unit to turn off. Shimming the batteries fixed the issue.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great This doesn't really work very well. Unless you're on top of something that you can already see it is not going to really help you find anything. I don't really recommend it for anyone

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not reliable It couldn't find a quarter under some cardboard on my floor or an iron stake 1 inch below the grass.
