Not only a beautiful shoe, but a very comfortable one as well. The soles and material are perfect for what I use them for.

A Bit Of A Let Down.
Love the Caldera 7, it was a great combo of cushion and support for trails. The Caldera 8, not so much. Less cushion and the Caldera 8 seems slightly tighter that the 7's (my toes jamb the front of the shoe quite a bit). Also, The colors for Caldera 8 must have been selected by a colorblind person. I had to go with the black shoes which make me look like an old man!

Surprised How Much I Liked Them
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Caldera 8 as I was going on vacation to a resort in Tennessee where I had planned several half-day hikes. The trails were “technical” in that they included a lot of loose rocks and tree roots in hilly terrain with creek crossings on damp rocks – the weather was dry and moderate temperatures. My day-to-day running shoe at home over the past year is the Glycerin GTS 22 - prior, my daily shoe was the Adrenaline GTS (for a couple of decades) - I have a slight pronation (I’m 5’10”, 140lbs). I was slightly apprehensive that the Caldera has a midsole drop of 6mm versus the 10mm - 12mm of my daily runners. My experience with the Caldera was that I was highly satisfied (actually surprised on how much I liked them) with their traction and comfort plus the change in midsole drop was insignificant.

Nice Shoe But To Tight
have worn Brooks before, previous model is non longer avalible, suggestion was to try Caldera 8. Arrived quickly, but are much to tight. The other shoe in the order with same size fits perfectly but the Caldera 8 is much too tight in the toe to wear. Some shoes fit tight and break in over a few miles, these are flat out uncomfortable to even walk around the house.

Not What I Expected
I really had high hopes for these shoes. I currently wear the Ghosts and they are one of the only shoes that dont hurt my feet after having broken my foot in several places a few years ago. I bought two pairs of my Ghost 16s, one for work and one for softball. Sadly, while my feet and back do not hurt while wearing them, im sliding all over the place. No traction at all. I bought these hoping for a replacement. The arch in these is definetly more pronounced and hurt to just try on. I have returned these in hopes of finding something else for my flat, needy feet.
