[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is definitely a subjective review. I can see this show working for others. These were my first trail shoes from Brooks, and for me they felt more like a road shoe than a true trail shoe. I did three runs in them before deciding to send them back. The heel lock just didn’t work for me. I noticed heel shifting right away, even when wearing them around the house. I tried adjusting the lacing, but nothing helped. On my first run (5 miles on mixed terrain), it felt like the shoe might settle in with some break-in time. However, on a longer run, the small amount of heel movement created a hot spot. I had to crank the laces tight just to finish the run, which resulted in a sore foot. It’s a bummer because I really wanted to like these shoes. On the positive side, the grip was excellent

Strange Shoe Construction

Having had the last Caldera, I prefer the original style of that shoe to this new one. The support and comfort are similar but the overall turn of the shoe construction throws the walking/running gate off.

My New Trail Shoe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a wider foot but it fit perfectly. It keeps my stride stable and prevents me from rolling in or out. Light weight and super comfortable. Excellent trail shoe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am on my second pair and am sad they are removing this line from what I hear. The cascadia is what I used and loved for 3 years, but the 18 wasn’t the same and now seem more geared towards running than hiking. I hope for a good durable trail runner with a hiker focus.
