I have been running in brooks for 15 years. These are best shoes I have ever worn. I run in fairly technical routes, 3-4 miles a day. up and down and rocks and ledges and these shoes are comfortable, have great traction and perfect for the trails. Of all the Brooks I have owned these are number 1.

I’ve been using this trail runner since version 17 and have always loved it. But I must say the redesign on version 19 is spot on. I have already exhausted a pair and on to my second pair.

Good Shoes With Excellence Potential

I used the Cascadia 19 as my last pair of shoes to finish my Pacific Crest Trail Thruhike. What I like about the shoe: - very good grip - lacing and tongue are thought through - durability of the sole - performance in extreme wetness (three days of consecutive rain, the cushioning only worn out a little and dried quite quickly) What I don’t like: - as with most hiking shoes the insole is so cheaply made that my toes started to hurt (10-13 hours hiking a day, might not be a problem during runs) - the shoe has the disadvantage (had the same issue with the Speedgoat 6) that on uneven ground it cuts into my ankles (was a problem as the trail is quite uneven/ slanted) - my biggest worry was that a stone would cut through the sole - this is exactly what happened as the sole has an unprotected soft part under the heel and I strike quite a bit with heels while walking- so towards the end I could pull a sharp stone out of the outer sole, that got stuck in the rubber - would definitely introduce a rock plate to prevent that from happening In general I think Brooks did a good job in the shoe and I understand why it is first choice for some Thruhikers - there are a couple of things to lift the shoe from a good to an excellent shoe though. P.S.: Review based on PCT Thruhikers and the last section in Washington

Like Them!

Have put over 100 miles in. Grip is great, just enough ground feel for me with adequate protection

Not as comfortable as I had hoped, disappointed to say the least
