Fair Durability, Good Feel, Bit Heavier Than Normal

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I run 70miles a week, probably around 35 of which are in the Ghost 17s. Since May, I’ve worn out 2. The first one was good, lasted me most of the summer, but this one in the picture is disappointing. I’ve never really had problems with sole durability after 200 miles, except for this one. When I use the ghosts, it’s mostly on concrete, some grass, but I don’t think there should be a reason that the outsole is almost flat as a board after less than 300 miles. Along with that, the upper durability is poor in the ghost collection as a whole. My ghost 16s tore the sides, and now only after 250 miles in my 2nd 17s, the inside right above the foam has started to tear. However, I’ve never complained about the feel of the shoe. It’s great, no complaints ever about a ghost. However, if you’re running high-mileage on rougher surfaces, I find it inefficient for how many miles I put in until the shoe retires. The ghost 17 is also heavier than usual, no idea where that came about, and it makes the GTX practically a brick. Lighten the shoe, add some extra durability, and keep the plush, yet not extreme, feel of the ghost.

Very Disappointing

I have purchased Ghosts for years--it is my go-to training shoe. After buying the 17 though I am very disappointed. The changes to the new Ghost made it very uncomfortable. The higher cut and firm material around the front of the ankle continually rubbed into my skin and caused it to bleed. I tried to make it work for me, but after three weeks of training in the Ghosts I had to give them up. The change in midsole drop from 12mm to 10mm did not provide the same base/support that I was accustomed to, leading to an injury on the arch and heel of my foot. I will not purchase new versions of Ghosts again if they do not return to their previous cut /fit.

Happy Wide Feet

I love these because I need extra wide and am grateful to find these. Good support. Ample shoe string! Will order more.

Epic Shoes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a long-time Brooks/Ghost user, they never disappoint. The color 297-Chateau Gray/Brown/Olive has been my favorite, so I wear them every... single...day. They are very comfy during my runs, so I WILL REMAIN A BROOKS CONSUMER.

Great Sneakers

Brooks products are great for older folks who need room for added arch support.
