Brooks Men's Hyperion Max 4 Running Shoes

About This Item
WHAT OUR EXPERTS ARE SAYING: “The Brooks Hyperion Max 4 is one of the best max-cushion trainers I’ve ever run in! With the combination of DNA GOLD and the SpeedVault plate, it honestly feels like you’re running on a trampoline. I’ve been running in Brooks shoes for a while, but I’ve never had a shoe that I felt could handle both a long run and a tempo workout so well. That’s what makes the Hyperion Max 4 so special. It gives me the cushioning and comfort I want for those longer miles while still feeling fast and responsive when I pick up the pace. It’s amazing to finally have the best of both worlds in one shoe!” – Caden, Footwear Team Captain at DICK’S Sporting Goods San Antonio, TX

By Far Best I Have Ever Put My Feet In

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best shoes I have ever put my feet in. Only wish they came in more colors. I have two of them.

Favorite Cushion Model!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have tried a lot of "high cushion" shoes (from both Brooks and other companies), and this has been my favorite model. They certainly are not daily walkers, but they are perfect for road running and can hold a lot of miles. Will be buying again.

Good Enough. Still Missing V2

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the changes made to the upper the compared to the Hyperion Max 3. However, they more unstable to compared to the previous version. For example, when doing a workout, I felt my ankle start to roll as I took a corner at 5k pace. I still plan to use these for Long days and certain workouts. Ultimately missing the profile and feel of version 2: comfortable and fast, but not so bulky.

Serious Pop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always loved Hyperions but previous iterations (especially Hyperion Max 2) maybe didn't give me the arch support I needed (which is why I always have Glycerins and now Glycerin Maxes in the rotation). But the Max 4 feels like a revelation. Support, plus real spring, and rolls great for me. Super happy with these. Haven't taken them on a long endurance run yet--almost feel bad going slowly in these--but expect they'll keep me comfortable. Super, super shoe.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent pair of shoes. I wish an 2E (wide) option is available.

My Go To For Long Steady Runs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Compare them with the Max 2; the Max 4 is most comfortable.

Max 3 To Max 4

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really want to love these but I don’t. I’ve been training and running marathons in the Hyperion Max 3 and when the Max 4a were released figured I’d give them a shot. I have a bunion and the Max 3 seems to stretch a bit to accommodate it. The Max 4 do not stretch and the bunion causes issues. I’m hoping that after more mileage the Max 4s may break in properly but we’ll see. Additionally the Max 4 does not seem to handle sweat well. Living in the Low Country of SC the summers are hot and HUMID and my running shoes end up soaked. With the Max 3s the sweat seems to release however the Max 4s seem to absorb it so as I run I sound like I’m wearing galoshes. Again I really want to love these shoes but out of the box I’m not loving them. Maybe after few more miles my opinion will change.

Too Firm And Not Worth The Hype

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to like these shoes, but they just weren't anything special. They feel much firmer than I expected and don't provide the energy return or "boost" I was hoping for. They also feel slightly heavier than I anticipated. I'm a big fan of the Brooks Glycerin Max 2, and I wanted to try something different that might be a little faster. Unfortunately, these didn't deliver. I'll be going back to my Glycerin Max 2—they may not be the fastest shoe out there, but they're much more comfortable and enjoyable to run in. Maybe it's just my personal preference, but I wasn't impressed. The ride feels very firm, lacks responsiveness, and overall just didn't work for me.

Great Foam

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Light, but very responsive. Legs felt good during and after a 13 mile run.

Great Shoe For Mid To Long Runs…exceptional Shoe For Senior Runners Who Want Stability, Moderate Cushion, And Energized Stride.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Comfortable fit, roomy toe box, snug and comfortable width and heal. Cushioned feel but I can still “feel” the road, a superior connection to the Glycerin, which I have enjoyed for years. I am 64 and my pace has slowed over the last five years…on long run I’m less inclined to use a carbon plated shoe. This shoe gives great bounce. Just completed a marathon this week and give the H4 Max an “A”.

Great Trainer For You Tempo Speed Days

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great shoe, recommend a size up if you have wide feet

Cushioned But Light

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Feels light for a max cushion shoe. The elastic straps attached to the tongue sometimes get bunched up.

TERRANCEC

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Long time Brooks customer, wanted to try out a higher stack shoe. I have found them to be a very cushioned ride, best suited for road running. I didn't love the color options that were available.

Comfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very comfortable. I wear a prosthetic leg. The support keeps me from having pain.

Great Shoe

Great daily speed training shoe. Once you get settled into a pace it's really easy to tick over the miles. Great foot to road protection, and rebound from the midsole.
